Madonna was very popular at the time and is the only "pop" alternative, with Sugababes not having been entered.
Arctic Monkeys very popular though.
Blondie vs Doors mash-up my tip to come last. Ought to anyway, totally pointless mash-up. Interesting that Boulevard Of Broken Dreams is in this list (when really it was in 2004) because I used to go to Spin class where the woman running the class (actually Lara Pertics) would play a load of mash-up tracks. I think the Blondie vs Doors one may have even been on it, but there was also Boulevard of Broken Dreams vs Wonderwall (with a little bit of Writing To Reach You thrown in).
Fall Out Boy probably too "heavy" for the majority and will struggle in there.
I should probably have gone for Madonna to win but I went for Arctic Monkeys instead. My top 3 was probably too indie. That said I do think Green Day, Arcade Fire and Editors will all do well as all songs were beloved by the indie crowd here back in the day.
Blondie vs. Doors I really didn't care for, despite liking the original songs. It also (a bit like the Karen Carpenter song a few rounds back) didn't really seem in the spirit of the competition.
My other bottom 3 contenders were Tears For Fears (great band, decidedly average song) and Mohair which, while I quite liked, just wasn't very memorable amid all those huge songs.
