No great surprises there either, Pet Shop Boys the biggest act of the year for the second year running, but this time with a huge margin over the competition.
Thanks again for your contributions, looking forward to what 1988 has to offer!

Thank you for taking the time to produce all of these stats. It's one of the things that pushes me to do my chart every week, because I look forward to these so much every year.
1988 is another favourite year of mine, so I can't wait to get going with it!

What a gargantuan and absorbing piece of analysis. I am so grateful for the work you put in, week-in week-out, and at the end of the year. Thank you so much, and a very happy New Year Kingpin.

Can't believe I have a Bananarama record in my top 50! The year end data is always fascinating and some of my own results even surprise myself. As Whitneyfan says these certainly give you an incentive. Many thanks for all the hard work Kingpin puts into this - much appreciated. Gets my vote for The Thread Of The Year!

many thanks for all the hard work and facts n figures! If my charts seem obsessed by oldies - I've always loved oldies, and these are of the time! I was into full nostalgia mode for the 60's and 70's. If I did retro charts these days (as I do for 1969/70) more priority would have been given to tracks that underperformed in my charts of the time, but have held up with time...
