I don’t know a lot about the 60s, and there are some great tracks in there (except Mack The Knife which I despise immensely) but to start it half way through due to one band is utterly stupid. It’s like starting the 90s half way through due to the Spice Girls. I actually think generally eras last around 7 years, sometimes a bit less, so the divisions for me are almost: 1956-62: rock and roll, with some swing and instrumentals. 63-69: beat groups + motown 70-76: classic rock, glam and progressive rock + disco 77-83: punk, new wave and new romantics 84-89: not sure what I'd call it but Madonna's emergence + Frankie Goes To Hollywood and S/A/W who followed their trend start here, but this is a shorter era/ 90-97: Madchester and Britpop 98-2003: boybands and dance anthems + a few new bands emerge but not many 04-08: 00s rock, loads of new bands 09-13: download era and not sure really. got a bit lost here but start of the demise 14-19: streaming and the era music definitely will forget. Damn, I'm going to have to redo all of my decade playlists now!

I have just spent much of this morning creating a 10s playlist, although because it ends two thirds of the way through 2018 I could have made it long ago.
From my own chart perspective, 1 September 2018 represents the end of music as we know it.
If we do Time Machine 2010s I'll have to randomly pick something off the charts for 2019.

Or you could I know it is shocking look at other people’s charts, even the furthest away from my tastes here beats the top 40 I am not agreeing but I will struggle to like much before 1964 but will listen

Just a query raliverpool about the inclusion of Danny and the juniors At the hop - a 50s track and Drifters - Saturday night at the movies - a 70s track? I have Saturday Night At The Movies in 1964. Maybe it was a UK hit in a re-issue in the 1970s?
This topic does include 50s as well as 60s
This was my top 10 on 5 December 1964, the week "Saturday Night At The Movies" reached its peak position in my chart.
1 ( 1 ) Downtown - Petula Clark < 2nd week at #1 > 2 ( 2 ) March Of The Mods - Joe Loss Orchestra 3 ( 6 ) Twinkle - Terry 4 ( 3 ) I'm Gonna Be Strong - Gene Pitney (#3) 5 ( -- ) I Feel Fine - Beatles 6 ( 9 ) Saturday Night At The Movies - Drifters 7 ( 11 ) Walking In The Rain - Ronettes 8 ( 5 ) Time Is On My Side - Rolling Stones (#5) 9 ( -- ) Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley 10 ( 4 ) Leader Of The Pack - Shangri-Las (#1[3])
My mother was pregnant with me at the time these songs were out.

I couldn't see a 60s chart entry, only in 72 as double a - side with At the club, hence me asking. Always thought it was a 60s song but couldn't find an entry on it.

I stand corrected....apologies. OCC has them in the chart at 14.04.1965 Yes, it was a USA top 20 hit in 1964.
Incidentally, there are a small number of pre 1950s track to come for you to vote on by the likes Glenn Miller; Judy Garland; Bing Crosby; Vera Lynn; & Billie Holiday....
Thank you to the 15 of you who have already taken the trouble to vote. Pleasingly, just one song is left on Nil Points.
