483 Grimes - We Appreciate Power
Who wasn't blown away when they heard this for the first time!! Grimes goes industrial to great effect. This is one of the best pop metal tracks of the 10s, a genre which is has been getting more popular thanks to acts like Poppy and Babymetal.

482 Foo Fighters - The Sky Is A Neighborhood
Foo Fighters in the 10s not so many absolute bangers, they still have a couple of songs quite high up but none are on the same level as the 90s and 00s singles. This was the 2nd single taken from their last album 'Concrete And Gold'. It does get under your skin in a more subtle way like Black Keys or White Stripes rather than a typical alt rock anthem we expect from them.

481 Real Friends - Smiling on the Surface
And here we go, its surprise some pop punk. Real Friends from Illinois were really developing into something special, this single is as good as Blink 182 at their best taken from their last album 'Composure' in 2018. The band are in limbo at the moment after going through a bit of a split.

480 The Orwells - They Put A Body In The Bayou
Another band from Illinois, Orwells broke up before their time, they were just getting better and better, this song and one still to come were massively influenced by Pixies but this one is a bit more if Frank Black fronted Kasabian, yes that's how good this song is!! I must admit I never listened to their last album which came out a year after sexual assaults accusations broke up the band. None of those accusations were ever proven or pursued in the courts though. After reading Wikipedia maybe we haven't heard the last from them after all.

479 Incubus - Trust Fall
Taken from an EP released in 2015 called Trust Fall (Side A) which reached #6 in the US , the second part (Side B) came out in 2020 but failed to chart. This is actually much better than I remembered, its pretty vintage Incubus. Experimental, multi-genre, epic and pretty catchy. even has a bit of a Tool feel. Need to play this more.

478 Beck - Up All Night
I think Beck had a very good 10s, he released some of his best ever songs and collabing with modern pop and hip hop producers, brought him to a new generations attention. His biggest radio hit in the US since 2005, its just such a energetic buzzing track, heavy features on Fifa 2017 helped as well.

477 Nothing But Thieves - Take This Lonely Heart
First appearance of many from NBT, think only two acts have more entries on the list. This is the lowest entry as I just haven't played it as much as the others, maybe forgotten as its on an Ep 'What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way?' instead of an album.

476 Deaf Havana - Sing
I really wanted Deaf Havana to have a prescence on this list but on first run-through, only one made the cut, which is still to come. But I still had some spare slots so thought what else can we add. This single from 2016 is typical of their sound but its maybe still not special enough for this list, must try harder.

475 Arcane Roots - Off The Floor
This though is special, sadly no longer a group but this experimental post-hardcore band from Kinston upon Thames just blew me away with some of their singles in 2016-2017. Not sure how you describe this, guess its a bit prog, a bit metal, a bit indie but its a bit awesome! This was taken from their 3rd breakthrough album 'Melancholia Hymns'. Arguably the single 'Curtains' is even better but I left it off.

474 Haim - Now I'm In It
Another first appearance from one of my favourite acts of the 2010s. This comes first as its not really my genre, its a bit pop rnb but its still very good of course. Second track taken from their current album 'Women in Music Pt. III'

473 Fontaines D.C. - Boys In The Better Land
For some this maybe controversially low but I really want to like them, it actually took me 2 years to actually buy 'Dogrel' and just haven't got into the latest record at all. But this is a total indie floorfiller, I wish I still DJed indie nights as I can imagine what the dancefloor woudl be like at 1:30AM, with guys pogoing around with bottles in hand, and bumping into each other all over the place!! I miss those days and for that we have this song in at #473.

472 EELS - Today Is The Day
The only entry for Eels on the list, and its the twisted happy song, that he is so good at it. Maybe thats why I haven't got into the new record as its doesn't have the loveable dark spark, that I have loved Eels for since 'Susans House' and 'Novacaine'. He is a complicated man and thats why we love him!

471 Bodega - Name Escape
Now a band that many maybe haven't heard of, they are a New York Art rock band and yes without playing this you already know what you are getting. Yep Talking Head basslines, chanting vocals and strong Noo Yawk girly backing vocals and weird weird lyrics! Taken from the album 'Endless Scroll' from 2018.
