Haven’s Favourite Female Band / Group - The Results Show
Let's go.
Twenty people sent me their Top 20s. Thank you all very much
As a quick reminder, scoring has been done on an inverse points basis, with 30 pts for 1st place down to 11 pts for 20th. This means that two x 20th equals 1 x 8th, and three x 20th beats 1 x 1st.
The winner was always comfortably in front. But second place was extremely close, as were fifth, sixth and seventh. Where artists are tied on points, the one that appears on the most lists prevails. The highest position this tie-breaker was needed was 21st. None of the Top 40 had the same points and the same number of voters.
81 different acts appeared on at least one person’s list.
There is a prize for the winning act, which will be revealed at the end of the results show.
I have about 35 posts prepared, so there’ll be one every 3 minutes or so for the next hour-and-a-half, as we count our way up to crown Haven’s Favourite All-Female Band / Group.

Let’s start with those acts which were in the All-Time Top 101, but didn’t appear on anyone’s list.
Not surprisingly, no-one found space for the following acts from the 1950s:- Beverley Sisters, Chordettes, Kaye Sisters, Luton Girls Choir, the Poni-Tails or the McGuire Sisters.
Neither of the fictional groups appeared:- Lananeeneenoonoo or the Little Ladies. Nor did Military Wives.
Several of the one hit wonders also missed out:- La Belle Epoque, Piglets and Paper Dolls.
Crowded out by the sheer number of options around at the turn of the century were:- Fierce, Thunderbugs, 702, Total, Madasun, Vanilla, Girl Thing and Xscape.
There’s only so much disco you need, so no points for:- Frantique, Love Unlimited, Coffee, Mary Jane Girls, Ritchie Family and Stargard.
And then there are seven that surprised me a little. I thought Eurovision fans might not have given nul points to Belle & the Devotions. I thought “Lady Marmalade” might be sufficiently brilliant for LaBelle to score. Toto Coelo were fun, but not fun enough. M.O are clearly too recent for Haven. Girlschool too hard for Haven. And most surprisingly, nothing for Cleopatra or 3LW.

LaBelle were on my final shortlist but it was just the fact that I knew only one of their songs that meant they narrowly missed out.

Toto Coelo were on my first list of 33, then I thought, one hit wonders and relegated them off the list. Cracking song though, I eat cannibals.

I’ve deliberately missed a few out. Nine bands were included by just one person, but didn’t feature in the All-Time Top 101. Therefore, I’ve asked those people to nominate one track as a showcase. o put The Big Moon 16th. He selected “Formidable”. masenz put Bardot 15th. (That’s the Australian quartet, not the British Eurovision entry). He chose “I Need Somebody”. darkstar79 put Sleater-Kinney 14th. His track was “Little Babies”. smokeyb put Aces 13th, and picked “Stuck”. TheThorne put Expose 10th. His nomination was “Point Of No Return”. raliverpool put Runaways 9th, and they have already been clipped earlier in this thread. Smurfie put Revelations 8th, and he selected “If I Called You On The Telephone”. vastar iner put Those Dancing Days 4th. His choice was “Hitten”. vastar iner put Vivian Girls 3rd. His favourite track, “Tension” has just appeared in Haven Hidden Treasures 18. His second choice was “Where Do You Run To”. Thank you all for these selections. Hopefully you will convert a few more fans to your favourites. I certainly enjoyed listening to several of these tracks.
