“Hang on a minute”, some of you are thinking “that’s not everyone I picked from outside the All-Time Top 101”. And you’re quite correct. Three outsiders were placed in two personal Top 20s. raliverpool (12th) and Razzle Dazzle (16th) both went for Donnas. Here’s daz’s choice, “Take It Off”. Earl Purple (11th) and TheThorne (12th) both went for MUNA. Here’s The Thorne’s pick, “Loudspeaker”, which he told me is his second favourite song of the 21st century. Jordan (7th) and jra1989 (16th) both chose Danity Kane. “Damaged” is Jordan’s nominated track.

There was a different band I came close to including, but I won't say who they are because I'm pretty sure they will appear at some point.

I had No Angels as my 21st, a girl band from Germany Completely had forgotten No Angels! Probably would’ve had them around #10. I think I forgot Precious too.

That takes us to the Top 40.
A quick explanation of how these will look.
40 (-1) Amazulu :: 44 pts -- 3 lists
Means Amazulu finished 40th. That is one place lower (-1) than where the British public placed them based on all-time singles sales. Haven awarded them 44 points, with 3 people placing them in their personal Top 20.
Hope that’s clear.

Damaged by Danity Kane is a good tune. The rest was a bit urban for me.

39 (-6) Emotions :: 46 pts -- 2 listsOnly appeared on two lists, but were Top 10 for both Razzle Dazzle and Robbie. 38 (+6) SWV :: 52 pts -- 3 listsBest place: 7th with darkstar7937 (-3) StooShe :: 52 pts -- 4 listsAppeared on four lists, but never higher than 17th. 36 (+57) Vixen :: 55 pts -- 3 listsA massive 57 places higher on the Haven list than the general public’s ranking. Will they be the highest climber on the list ? Placed 5th by TheThorne. 35 (-24) Fifth Harmony :: 63 pts -- 4 listsThe biggest fall within the Top 40 is Fifth Harmony’s. Nobody ranked them higher than 14th.

So far I already know that I'm Haven's biggest Danity Kane, StooShe and Fifth Harmony fan

Amazulu and Vixen are the first 2 from my top 20 to get a mention.

Fifth Harmony have a handful of good tracks, but I just couldnt properly get into them. Perhaps I’m a bit old now for them.

34 (+4) Wilson Phillips :: 67 pts -- 4 listsHere’s a band I expected to do better. But they only appeared on four lists, including a 7th from Whitneyfan. 33 (+16) Shirelles :: 75 pts -- 4 listsBest place was 6th from Earl Purple. 32 (+65) Solid HarmoniE :: 76 pts -- 4 listsA result I definitely didn’t expect, with an even bigger jump up the chart than Vixen. 10th with both onehitwonder and Smurfie. 31 (-13) Three Degrees :: 77 pts -- 5 listsThe lowest placed of four acts to feature on five lists. Nobody found a place in their Top 10 for the Three Degrees. 30 (-1) Honeyz :: 93 pts -- 5 listsI expected a bigger fall for Honeyz than just the one place down to 30th. Again, no Top 10s.

Solid Harmonie don’t have a huge back collection but the four singles are all solid pop tracks.

Ouch, I lost 4 in that part! I'm surprised Wilson Phillips didn't do better too - although my ranking was based solely on their first album.

Solid Harmonie don’t have a huge back collection but the four singles are all solid pop tracks. I also enjoyed Come and get it from the album.

29 (+8) Shangri-Las :: 102 pts -- 5 listsOne of the most influential girl groups there has ever been. 5th with vastar iner and 7th with raliverpool, and neither of them will be shy of telling the rest of us we are cloth-eared muppets. 28 (-1) Crystals :: 117 pts -- 5 listsNote the big jump in points from 29th to 28th. The Crystals were placed 2nd by darkstar79, and made three other people’s Top 10s. 27 (+4) Mis-Teeq :: 131 pts -- 7 listsFeaturing on seven lists, including a 6th place with masenz and a 7th with onehitwonder.

The Solid HarmoniE debut is a fantastic solid pop album. A little dated now, but still excellent to these ears.
Amazulu were 18th, Precious 20th - though the latter got a recent boost as I had forgotten how good Rewind is and been playing it rather a lot since the original countdown.

Rewind is a classic Smurfie! #11 was a shame.
Good for Mis-Teeq, great run of singles and a good first album.

The Solid HarmoniE debut is a fantastic solid pop album. A little dated now, but still excellent to these ears. I wholly agree. Some people say UK wasn't ready for them in 1998. Maybe they could have managed better in 1999.
