I expected you wouldn't chart "Pineapple Princess" by Annette but it was my #1 of the year in 1960 spending 6 weeks at #1.
At the start of 1961 "Serenata" by Sarah Vaughan reached #1 in my chart. It was a double A-side with "Let's" but far superior in my opinion. It started off as an instrumental by Leroy Anderson around 1946 and then had lyrics added by Mitchell Parish, who wrote lyrics for several Leroy Anderson tunes, always putting the title into the lyrics. The most famous of these was "Sleigh Ride". In the case of Serenata the tune has been changed a fair amount, taking out a lot of the orchestral part.

"Pineapple Princess" is a nice song, maybe a bit too much ukulele though! if i was doing a top 75 it probably would've made it in

Maybe my age is showing but when you look at these charts they are so much more appealing than the dross today.

Id say the top 20 is very strong, after that its a little harder to find the same quality, I think 1960-1962 is probably the weakest 3 years of 1960-1989 so im looking forward to getting to 1963 to have a bit more variety, the UK chart is incredibly poor at the moment, 80% of my entries are coming from the US top 100, maybe 5% that didn't chart (for example The Crickets - I Fought The Law was a B side), and only 15% coming from the UK chart.
My main gripe with 1960 is the audio quality of some songs are incredibly poor, I have found some that have a hum pitched at a frequency that actually makes me feel sick ha, almost like it was recorded under water, there are also 2 or 3 covers of some songs all released together and lastly lots of instrumentals , bands hadn't formed yet in any great number, Cliff teaming up with The Shadows and The Crickets probably being the two that stand out.

like a rubber ball he went bouncing back up to number one. I think Gene Pitney wrote that song too...
You charted Let's at number 40 I think the flipside Serenata is far superior (but then I am quite a big fan of Leroy Anderson in general)
