Little Anthony & The Imperials don't have a song title? And they were #38 last week and #33 this week but you've marked them as a new entry both weeks so maybe with different songs?

12. (NE.) Dolly Parton - In the Ghetto What is this doing here? Dolly Parton was 14 in 1960, her music career didn't begin until 1967 (in spite of references to Active 1956 to present). She has recorded a version of the song written by Mac Davis and made famous by Elvis Presley, but that song wasn't written until 1969 so she wouldn't have recorded it 9 years earlier.

The debut single "Puppy Love" is from 1959, Dolly was only 13 years old.

Just listened to it - written by her uncle Owens, not the Paul Anka song.

and In The Ghetto was released by her in June 1969. It has "Scott Davis" as the credited songwriter although Mac Davis wrote the song and his name isn't Scott (his real first name is Morris).

Simple error, I added it to the wrong playlist, it was meant to go in my best of the 1960s Spotify playlist not the retro 1960 Spotify chart playlist, I will edit it, keep your hair on. I have its release date down as June 23rd 1969 She had a string of releases before 1967 though "Puppy Love" 1959 "So Little I Wanted, So Little I Got" (with Bill Owens) 1962 "It's Sure Gonna Hurt" (with the Merry Melody Singers) 1962 "What Do You Think About Lovin'" 1964 "Happy, Happy Birthday Baby" 1965 "Busy Signal" 1966 "Don't Drop Out" 1966 "The Little Things" 1966 "Dumb Blonde" 1966

I didn't know about another song with a title "Stairway To Heaven".
Sadly the one from my favourite 60s singers Anita Bryant didn't get a hit here with her classic "Paper Roses".
"Sixteen Reasons" was my # 1.

If I'd been about at the time Im sure I'd have been a big fan of the Everly Brothers - they made some cracking records as did Billy Fury.
Please Don't Tease was a real belter from Cliff & The Shadows.
EMI organised a panel of fans to choose his next single and this was the winner - they were proved right, one of his biggest UK sellers.

Thank god for Cliff, the last 3 weeks has been a struggle finding the quality needed to break my top 40 but Brian Hyland and Cliff keep popping up, same with the Everly Brothers, safe to say the early 60s were hit and miss!
I love a bit of Billy Fury too, my mother had a few of his albums on Vinyl (and a best of) so I grew up with his music so there are some huge hits to come.
