The Manics single was deleted after one day on sale, similar to There Goes The Fear by Doves a couple of years later. It hung around a bit longer than that did though.
I think I like/don't mind all the songs there, except Go Let It Out - not Oasis's finest moment. I'm not sure how much of that is nostalgia driven though!

Time for one or two more...
Craig David - Fill Me In Oh wow, what a week for new entries in the top 5 - Flowers, A Song For The Lovers, Deeper Shade Of Blue and The Bad Touch. Plus this one, which won the race. I must say I love this a lot more now than I did at the time - it just sounds so fresh and soulful, even now.

Fragma - Toca's Miracle The first one that hasn't been on Spotify, and what an absolute banger of a tune not to be on there! This mash-up of Fragma's 'Toca Me' and (the uncredited) Coco Star's 'I Need A Miracle' was an absolute floorfiller at the time, staying at the top for 2 weeks at the end of April 2000, and still sounds just as great today. Yep, I would still be on the floor if this came on in a club!

Never been a big fan of Craig David but I did go through an Artful Dodger/UK garage phase as a young teenager and I did like 'Fill Me In' a lot.

Oxide & Neutrino - Bound 4 Da Reload (Casualty) I love it when these listening projects throws up something completely unexpected! I had completely forgotten about this dance tune, which features a sample of the theme to the long-running TV medical drama Casualty. To be honest the Casualty sample is the best thing about it, but there is something strangely appealing about it.

I have a neighbour who still plays Craig David, Artful Dodger and the like on a regular basis, and I don't think Craig David's solo stuff has held up very well, it sounds very dated. Fill Me In is probably the best of it.

This thread is proving to be quite the stroll down memory lane for me! The very late 90s/early 2000s were when I first properly started to get into music outside of my dad's CD and cassette collection. I had forgotten all about 'Bound 4 Da Reload' but again with the UK garage thing I think I quite liked it at the time, listening to it again now for the first time in about 2 decades and um well I'm not sure I'd choose to listen to it again but there is plenty worse in the charts these days!

Fill Me In is probably the best of it. I have a deep-seated ingrained hatred of 'Seven Days' because the first time I heard it I was lying on the sofa ill watching MTV

Britney Spears - Oops!... I Did It Again This is basically '...Baby One More Time' part 2, but I still think it's a great pop record and it does put you in a good mood. It was a good taster from the second album too, which also included the brilliant 'Lucky'.

Having made it through 'Bound 4 Da Reload', YouTube then recommended this which won't be in this thread but which I was obsessed with when it came out! Between this and 'Belfast Child' I am going to lose what remains of my cred on here

Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby Oh, now we're talking! This is just a tuuuunnnne!! I think it was originally released the previous year but didn't do very well. It's just the prefect pop/dance fusion, and I really miss records like this!

'Don't Call Me Baby' is a rare example of a song I didn't actually like much at the time, but it's really grown on me in the intervening years.

Lucky spent 8 weeks at number one and it's my favourite Britney song. Six songs from her first 7 singles became my #1 (without Crazy, but with US single From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart). Also Lucky was official chart topper in Germany.

Billie Piper - Day & Night Previously just known by her first name, Billie Piper adopted a more grown-up sound for the first single from her second album - meaning it's a darn sight better than guff like 'Because We Want To' (although the song 'Honey To The Bee' wasn't too bad!). I mean, it's not on the same level as the stuff Britney was bringing out, but it's not too bad a pop song considering what came before it.

Sonique - It Feels So Good I always think of the eighties and nineties when it comes to classic dance tunes, but there were some real bangers making it to the top end of the charts in 2000 - although technically this is from 1998. I actually bought it when it originally came out, and fell in love with it then, so was delighted when it did so well on re-release. I even bought her album, which wasn't bad from what I can remember!

Black Legend - You See The Trouble With Me Oh now this is one that I completely forgotten about! I love the Barry White original loads, and this is a great club tune that samples a live version of that song - so you almost get the feel that the whole thing is live. I'll try not to wait another 20 years before I play this again!

Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around Can you believe we're only just half way through 2000? That is a lot of chart toppers in six months! Anyway, here we are now at Kylie's first #1 single in ten years, and it was a disco pop stomper. I think most people had probably all but written her off at this point, after her indie period wasn't providing her with the chart hits that she had previously enjoyed. I actually really liked her indie period, but you can't deny it's this type of song that she does best!

Eminem - The Real Slim Shady I always thought I couldn't stand Eminem, apart from the odd single here and there, but lately I have come to appreciate more of his work for some reason. I still don't think I'll ever be his biggest fan, but this is one of those songs that has definitely grown on me a lot - and I'm actually enjoying listening to it right now! (I still don't think I'll be saying the same about Drake in twenty years time though!)
