Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone Calvin Harris has become such a regular staple of modern dance music that it's easy to forget some of the big hits that he had along the way - and I had completely forgotten this banger. I think tunes like this always sound better when it's been a while since you heard them, and I can guarantee I'd be one of the first up dancing to this if it came on in a club (if I was still young enough to frequent those places!).

I actually do not agree about Poker Face - I think it's kinda boring? Just Dance is much more interesting to me, I love the "half psychotic sick hypnotic" bit towards the end! Also, My December is Kelly's best album I will do my 2008 top 5 and bottom 5 soon, I'm not even sure I did my 2007 one? Falling behind rapidly!

Tinchy Stryder Featuring N-Dubz - Number 1 Tinchy is one of those rappers/R&B singers like Taio Cruz and Ne-Yo who had a string of big hits around this time, but you never hear of them now. Maybe it was because artists like Drake came and stole the show, I don't know. Anyway, I quite like this sort of stuff - it's easily accessible, pretty mainstream and catchy.

The Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow I remember wondering what the hell this was when the Black Eyed Peas came back with this record. I did end up buying the album though and it grew on me over time, but I still don't think it's got the same appeal that many of their other songs have got - and it definitely doesn't sound like a #1 song. When I listen now it sounds like a little bit of a mess to be honest.

Looking back, we really didn't appreciate what we had - give me Taio and Tinchy over Drake any day!

So many good number ones!
P!nk - So What One of my favorite songs to sing in karaoke.
Girls Aloud - The Promise Beyonce - If I Were A Boy I think this was the first Beyonce song I have ever truly liked.
Leona Lewis - Run Lady Gaga - Just Dance Lily Allen - The Fear Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You I have always thought that Kelly is very underrated in UK, was very surprised when this hit number 1 of all her singles.
Lady Gaga - Poker Face Love everything about it, especially the dance routine and the intro.

I'm not a fan of kd lang, but her version of "Hallelujah", well...
Alexandra Burke is not fit to sell it in Our Price.

Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden - Bonkers From the opening few bars this is recognisable, and probably the tune that Dizzee is most known for now. What can I say, it's just a really good grime/club crossover single that never seems to age.

Pixie Lott - Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)
Oh yes, Pixie's debut hit and what a stomper it was. At the time it was really hard not to like this, as it was a catchy slice of modern pop that seemed to be everywhere at the time. Hearing it now, all these years later, and it's still hard to slag it off - it's just unpretentious and gets inside your head quickly.

David Guetta Featuring Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over Like Calvin Harris, it's hard to deny just how many decent club tunes David Guetta has had a hand in producing. He may be very mainstream, but I don't see why that has to be a bad thing really - This one in particular would still get the majority up dancing in a club I reckon.

La Roux - Bulletproof This was when the eighties electro sound was making a chart comeback, and I can really see this one being released in 1981. I must admit that, although I did like 'In For The Kill', I did find her voice slightly grating on that one. 'Bulletproof' though is sung in a more accessible key for the most part, and has a killer tune that makes it hard to ignore.

Cascada - Evacuate The Dancefloor Well this must have been more popular at the time than I can remember it being, because it was the week after Michael Jackson had died and his songs were filling up the charts. Sadly 'Man In The Mirror' had to make do with #2 to make room for this, which is an ok dance tune but not one of the more memorable of the era. It's not terrible, but it's not exactly evoking great memories either. Probably 6/10.

I will rate Cascada song as 6 / 10 too, but on my scale is good mark.
Awful year for # 1s, from them all I like only "Evacuate The Dancefloor" and "Islands In The Stream".

JLS - Beat Again Runners-up to Alexandra on the fifth series of X Factor, JLS brought out an actually very worthy and modern R&B single as their debut. 'Beat Again' is quite typical of the stuff being brought out by the likes of Tinchy and Taio Cruz at the time and was a deserved #1 single. It's actually aged very well too.

The Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling Now I loved this when it first came out, but it soon became apparant that it was one of those tunes that wasn't made for excessive hearing because it soon turned from fresh and funky to old and irritating - to my ears anyway! I can still hear that it is a good song, but at the same time I would be quite happy not to hear it for another twenty years or so...

Tinchy Stryder Featuring Amelle - Never Leave You This is on the other end of the scale because I could never get bored of this tune - it's just a banger! I really miss R&B songs like this because they hardly ever grab me like that anymore. I know nothing about Amelle, and am too lazy to Google her right now, but the parts she sings are just awesome! Tinchy is great too and I'm sure this is my favourite of his.

David Guetta Featuring Akon - Sexy Bitch It feels like it should be a friday night, because it's been non-stop dance music tonight! I liked the last Guetta song, but this one is on another level for me - it's just got that something that I find irresistible. It's just funky as hell and is another one I've never tired of.

Isn’t Amelle one of the Sugababes? As in the 5th Babe or second replacement?

Dizzee Rascal - Holiday There's still no let-up with the dance tunes (maybe the public had got bored of ballads due to Westlife!), but it's going to feel like a right comedown now when they end. I must admit this one passed me by a bit at the time, and it's nowhere near as catchy as his other two #1s - I was half expecting a Madonna sampling chorus, which I know has already been done but it still could have been... It gets into full Ibiza mode during the last minute and, even though I do quite like the rest of the song, it is that end bit I like and it's a shame it's not for more of the record.
