I think I'd have to say...
Best: 1. LeAnn Rimes - Can't Fight The Moonlight 2. A1 - Same Old Brand New You 3. Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around 4. Manic Street Preachers - The Masses Against The Classes 5. The Corrs - Breathless
Worst: 1. Bob The Builder - Can We Fix It? 2. Craig David - 7 Days 3. Oasis - Go Let It Out 4. Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight) 5. U2 - Beautiful Day

Rui Da Silva Featuring Cassandra - Touch Me Moving into a new year finally, with a massive dancefloor filler! I just love it when I rediscover a tune that I had completely forgotten about, and this falls into that category. I may have to go and make myself a playlist after I've done this, of all the brilliant club tunes that were big hits in the noughties!

Jennifer Lopez - Love Don't Cost A Thing I suppose that would depend on if you wanted to get married or not.... Anyway, here's another one I had forgotten about, although I can't remember ever being that interested in this or JLo at the time (I did love 'Waiting For Tonight' though!) - listening to it all these years later though and I'm really liking it. It's just really inoffensive, feel-good pop/R&B.

Limp Bizkit - Rollin' Every now and again a curveball is thrown in that sounds like no other #1 of the era. Not in a bad way though - it's refreshing to hear something different. I can't pretend to ever have been a Limp Bizkit fan, and I probably couldn't name you another song of theirs without Googling it, but this does sound pretty good when turned up loud and you just want to escape the real world for a few moments!

Atomic Kitten - Whole Again We have a four week chart topper now - which was huge for that period! I admit I couldn't hum a single song from their first album, and then they came back with this piece of total pop brilliance - although I'd say it's down to the fact that the song was co-written by the 2 members of synth-pop geniuses OMD (who later re-covered the song themselves) that it's so good. Whatever the case, it's definitely one of the best pop ballads of the early noughties.

Shaggy Featuring RikRok - It Wasn't Me
I'm sure it won't be long 'til a piece of turd is thrown in, but what a great year 2001 is proving to be so far! This was Shaggy's third #1 to date, and probably his best. I mean, the lyrics are quite nonsensical when you listen to them - like denying to your woman you've cheated, when she's caught you at it probably isn't the best advice to give! It's just immediately catchy though, and one of those that you wouldn't be surprised to hear at a summertime barbecue!

Westlife - Uptown Girl Oh dear... I genuinely hadn't looked to see what was next when I made that comment on the last post! The worst thing is, it's not a terrible version of the Billy Joel classic, it's just that they've done nothing to it to make it their own - it's just a carbon copy of the original, and that means I will opt to play Billy Joel's version every time - except when I'm making threads to listen to every #1 single of the 21st century!

Hear'say - Pure And Simple It's hard to believe that popstars, the TV series, was so long ago now, but I'm going to say (and I'll probably be in a minority of me and Lastdreamer here!) that I think this is a brilliant pop song! At least it was from a time when they used to put a bit of effort into the winners' song of a TV talent show (before they became just a production line for making a fast buck). It's also another song that really reminds me of Peter Kay's Car Share, as the character Kayleigh loved it too .

Emma Bunton - What Took You So Long? This thread isn't going to do my street cred any good (like I every had any in the first place!), because I really love this one too. It's the sort of acoustic-y pop ballad that you could imagine the likes of Sheryl Crow doing, and I'd say it's easily my favourite song by a solo Spice Girl.

Destiny's Child - Survivor I didn't intend doing so many today, but I'm having such a good time (Westlife aside) revisiting these old classics that I'm not ready to stop yet! I'm already a third of the way through 2001 so I should finish it a lot quicker than 2000! Anyway, moving on and this is an absolutely banging R&B tune, in a similar style to their Charlie's Angels track from the previous year, which was a dead cert for another #1 for the girls. It's also a song which I have on my positivity playlist (yes, I'm afraid I do have one of those!), so it's a song that is always guaranteed to give me a bit of a lift too!

S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin'
Probably their most famous song (it's no 'Reach' though!), this was a rare one which entered at the top, dropped to #2 and then went back to the top a few weeks later for a second week. Yeah, even though I prefer 'Reach' I still think this is a great pop song, you just can't fail to be happy when listening to it - and who doesn't want to feel happy?

Some I like and some I really don't in this batch!
I loved 'It Wasn't Me' when it came out; I haven't heard it in ages but I think I'd still like it now. 'Survivor' and 'Rollin'' are also both great.

I've always had an unexplained aversion to Don't Stop Movin', but everything else here I would listen to and enjoy it.

Geri Halliwell - It's Raining Men The production is much better than the vocals on this version of the Weather Girls classic that the ex-Spice Girl recorded for the soundtrack of 'Bridget Jones's Diary', which of course was going to get to #1 at the time! The trouble is, the Weather Girls had hugely powerful vocals and Geri was never going to compete - which is why the production overshadows her. It's easily on par with Westlife as being the joint worst track I've listened to today.

Not many people know it, but there is a third version of " Whole Again", the most cheesiest and my favorite. That version included only Kerry's vocals and was available on Asian release of their debut album and illegal piracy copy, which my sister bought.
I'm not a fan of Hearsay, but adore Kym Marsh debut album, at least it's a strong enough for my all-time top 20 albums.

Two acts (YVA and Geri) are in a league of it's own. Best group and best singer, but It's Raining Men is only one her song, which I dislike. Weather Girls original is even more awful.

The worst tracks from this selection are Don't Stop Movin' and Touch Me. Is it anybody else here, who strongly dislike all types of dance music like me?

The worst tracks from this selection are Don't Stop Movin' and Touch Me. Is it anybody else here, who strongly dislike all types of dance music like me? I couldn't listen to hardcore or anything, but the type of dance/club/house music that used to get into the charts I absolutely love!

U2 - Beautiful Day
Always makes me think of a good friend of mine. My personal dislike towards Bono affected their chart position and it only peaked at #18 on my chart, but it has aged very well, really enjoy this track.
Steps - Stomp
Easily the worst single from Steps, I couldn't believe it got to number 1.
The Spice Girls - Holler/Let Love Lead The Way
As everybody on this forum probably knows by now, I was a huge Spice Girls fan and I find Holler fantastic. Let love lead the way is beautiful. I love Forever album, I don't know if I'd like it now, but I was only 16 when it was released and it brings back good memories. Both were #1 on my chart.
A1 - Same Old Brand New You
One of their better singles, very good production.
Leann Rimes - Can't Fight The Moonlight
Love love love this one! I also enjoy the Graham Stack radio edit. My sister was obsessed with that movie and listened to the soundtrack every single day! Was also #1 on my chart.
Destiny's Child - Independent Women Part 1
This is when they finally became huge all over the world. Great song and great video. #1 on my chart
S Club 7 - Never Had A Dream Come True
S Club 7 had a great run of brilliant pop singles and I think this was their highlight so far. #1 on my chart as well.
Eminem - Stan
This is the only Eminem song to chart inside my top 10 peaking at #8. Thanks to Dido, of course.
