Rui Da Silva Featuring Cassandra - Touch Me
I love it. I am a huge trance fan and this is easily one of the best trance efforts. Very atmospheric. Apparently, Melanie C covered this on her new album.
Jennifer Lopez - Love Don't Cost A Thing
Her second and her last number 1 on my chart. I wouldn't listen to it that much now though.
Atomic Kitten - Whole Again
Was their last chance to convince their record label not to drop them and it worked. Good pop song.
Westlife - Uptown Girl
A very unnecessary cover as they didn't add anything to it. Only Cindy Crawford in the video lol
Emma Bunton - What Took You So Long?
One of my favourite solo Spice songs. The album left be a bit cold, but this was the year I met her in person and she signed my Take my breath away single. Felt like a dream.
Destiny's Child - Survivor
Brilliant song from their best album!
S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin'
I didn't like it at first, but enjoy it now.
Geri Halliwell - It's Raining Men
I bought the single the week it was released, but I absolutely loathe this version. I think it's one of her worst singles.

I don't recall ever hearing "Stomp" at the time, and, listening to it afresh, dear God, it sounds like the Tweenies would reject it for being too childish.

Here is my personal top 150 from the year 2000, if anybody cares to watch. Do you live in Russsia or just watched our MTV?

Thank you for all of your comments, please keep them coming in - I do read and appreciate every single one, even if I don't reply to them all! But, moving on:
DJ Pied Piper & The Masters Of Ceremonies - Do You Really Like It? At the time when this song was seemingly everywhere then I would answer "No, I don't f***ing like it!", but it doesn't sound as bad now - probably because it's been more than twenty minutes since I last heard some idiot singing it! I don't doubt it wouldn't take me very long to get irritated with it again though!

Shaggy Featuring Rayvon - Angel The second #1 in a row for Shaggy, who was really reaching new highs of his popularity at this point - since his other 2 chart toppers were in 1993 and 1995 respectively. The appeal of this tune is largely down to the catchy chorus, which is a re-write of the P.P. Arnold classic 'Angel Of The Morning' (hers wasn't the original but it is probably the best known - although country singer Juice Newton also recorded a great version of the song). Yeah, I like this - it goes well with this hot weather and a bottle of beer!

Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & P!nk - Lady Marmalade This all-lady collaboration was recorded for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, and was an obvious shoe-in for the top spot looking at the big names on display - plus the fact it's a remake of a total disco anthem! I wish I hadn't looked at the rest of the chart though or I wouldn't have seen one of my favourite songs of the decade entering 2 places lower - Faith Hill's 'There You'll Be' (also from a film, Pearl Harbour in this case.) I have to say I prefer the original, but it's still a pretty good remake.

Hear'say - The Way To Your Love I couldn't have remembered how this one went if my teeth were being pulled out for the information! After listening to it I doubt if I'll still remember after I've heard the next song! The debut was a pretty good pop song, but this is just early noughties pop-by-numbers and distinctly average. You can see why they didn't last long, it's because nobody was putting the effort in!

Roger Sanchez - Another Chance This is basically just a line from Toto's 'I Won't Hold You Back', but that was quite a common theme for a club smash in those days - to just take a line from one song, a catchy hook from another - speed it up, repeat over and over, and voila: you have a banging dance tune! The trouble is, I really miss those days, because some of them really were banging dance tunes! This wasn't one of my favourites at the time, but it's aged pretty well and I would have danced to it if it came on in a club!

Robbie Williams - Eternity/The Road To Mandalay Oh so I've got to listen to 2 Robbie Williams songs in a row now. Is this payback for me slagging off 'Rock DJ'? Anyway it doesn't matter because I'm already quite liking 'Eternity'. It's a typical Robbie ballad - a few cliches thrown in: "Youth is wasted on the young" etc., and it's not dissimilar to 'She's The One' (which I'm aware was a cover) but it's quite a nice laid back, chilled tune. I probably won't be rushing back to play it again tomorrow, but I didn't dislike it today!
'The Road To Mandalay' now, and I think this sounds more like a B-side than a double A-side. Even Robbie sounds quite bored on this, and I can't imagine many people bought the single for this. It's not really bad, just pretty average.

Atomic Kitten - Eternal Flame Oh dear. Can I just say 'it's not the Bangles' and leave it at that? OK then - well I can see why they chose to cover this absolute classic, after the success of their 'Whole Again' ballad, but it's just a really, really, really pale imitation of the original. I can't believe this monstrosity spent 2 whole weeks at the top of the chart!

I loved that DJ Pied Piper thing back in the day but it went off the boil for me pretty quickly.
'Another Chance', on the other hand, was and still is a total banger. One of my favourite dance tunes of that late-90s-early-00s period when there were so many amazing ones knocking around.

So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds I felt like I was the only person in the country not really liking this garage/rap track at the time, and listening again (some 19 years later!) it's still not doing a great deal for me. Yeah, it's a couple of minutes in and I'm bored now... Next!

Five - Let's Dance Thankfully the boys haven't decided to repeat the formular of re-making an old classic like they did with 'We Will Rock You', and this isn't a slaughter of the David Bowie song! It's no masterpiece either, but you can't really help but to bop with it. It's not the worst way to kill a few minutes, but once every few years is probably enough of an airing for this - to keep it fresh sounding!

Oops... I really loved 21 Seconds, and I still probably would if I heard it again! I think I'm probably the one who's the odd one out. All my mates at the time thought it was brilliant, except me!

Let's Dance is alright, but it's no Keep On Movin', which is Five's 'song that even people who don't like them usually like'. Bit like Whole Again in a way.

Blue - Too Close I loved 'All Rise' which didn't get to the top! I never realised at the time that this follow-up was a cover version of a U.S. #1 hit single by a band called Next in 1997. I still haven't taken the time to listen to the original (lazy me!), but I do quite like this - it's very nineties R&B, and has quite a nice feel to it - like if you're on a roadtrip with the sun-roof down, drinking beers (obviously not the driver - he's just peed off because he can't have one and all his passengers can!).... and I've no idea what I'm going on about now, I've gone totally off-piste!

Usually I prefer pure pop cover versions over the originals ( hi Walk This Way) and don't judge them if they sounds like original. Based on my age I heard them years before that's why Uptown Girl is firstly Westlife, Lady Marmalade is Mouln Rouge OST and Eternal Flame is AK song.

Bob The Builder - Mambo No. 5 Oh for Heaven's sake! Can I be forgiven for forgetting that one of the country's most famous construction workers had had a second #1 single? Imagine the scene - it's a really hot evening and I'm upstairs with all the windows open. I may be forgiven a bit of Five and Blue by the neighbours - but Bob the Builder may be asking a bit much! Plus they're going to think I've gone weird(er)! The song is just a re-hash of Lou Bega's 'Mambo #5' and I'm not going to be in a rush to listen to it again!
