Kind of topical given the James Bond theme rate ongoing in the Music forum, and I've also seen this: www.radiotimes.com/news/film/2020-08-10/sean-connery-best-james-bond-poll/Unsurprising #1 but Timothy Dalton for #2 was a bit of a shock. They did the poll as a knockout, though, which was always going to yield slightly different results. So who is your favourite 007? (I've included an 'other' in case we have any David Niven fans even though that Casino Royale is not considered part of the canon... or any people who only like the books )

They always say your favourite is the one you grow up with, problem is I've grown up with them all . My top 2 would be Sean Connery & Daniel Craig. I always thought Roger Moore & Pierce Brosnan played it for laughs, a bit. Timothy Dalton was ok, and probably should have made more than 2 films. The least said about George Lazenby the better. He wasn't even an actor, so for me he ruined a good film.

Brosnan and Connery are the two best. Lazenby was OK, Moore became a bit of a pastiche of himself.
Dalton was dull. Craig is awful, having taken all of the charm out of the character and turned him into a run-of-the-mill beefed-up action hero in the mould of Stallone or Willis.

I like Daniel Craig for the exact same reasons SB dislikes him. I grew up with Brosnan and do my opinion of Jame Bond was that it was cheesy and super cringe enduring - which meant Craig in Casino Royale was a breath of fresh air.

My favourite is Dalton! Like Jordan I grew up with Brosnan as the representation of Bond, but I think the first time I actually saw a Bond film in the cinema when it came out was Craig's debut in 'Casino Royale' - which is still one of my absolute favourites even now I've seen them all. My partner and I watched all the films in order a couple of years ago and I have to say that even though my brain still thinks Brosnan's look is 'quintessential Bond', I thought most of his films were among the worst! So why Dalton? I really like both his films, he has the right 'look' for me and also he's the most attractive Craig would probably be second for me; I don't really enjoy Bond as a full-on action hero, but I do like the grittier, more menacing portrayal he brings to the franchise. Also I've really liked most of his films so far (we'll forgive 'Quantum of Solace'...) Connery would probably be my objective vote as he really is 'classic' Bond, but I think he's only my third favourite.

Would have been Dalton had he done more. He had that hard psychotic edge that was in the books. But one cannot beat the only man ever to carry off a safari suit.

Ha, I completely forgot I had set this to lock at the end of August Unsurprisingly, Sean Connery is comfortably the winner, though Roger Moore isn't far behind. I am also not surprised to see I am the only Dalton fan!
