I didn't have trouble finding good songs for each year. In fact, I have the opposite problem of deciding which ones to discard!

Songs are in, just hoping others if they pick the same acts as me they use different years

I have another question, Shireblogger... What happens if we choose 'Replace Duplicates' but our back-up is also taken? Can we change our minds at that point and say 'actually I'll stick with my first or second choice' or do we need to find a second choice that no-one else has chosen?

That's exactly what I have suggested for 2 of my years

Can we change our minds at that point and say 'actually I'll stick with my first or second choice' or do we need to find a second choice that no-one else has chosen? Your decision. Revert to your original choice. Stay with your reserve. Or send me a 3rd or even 4th choice.

I will do the same in that case.
Also, I keep wanting to call that rule 'Remove Duplicates' which is what ten years of working with Excel will do to a person...

Essentially, it seems you can pick whatever song you want, but may have to be content to know it's a duplicate. MAybe there will be one year where we all pick exactly the same song, all decide we'll stick with being a duplicate/ triplicate / polyplicate or whatever, and that song will win even though none of us can vote for it. Having said that, if every single other person has picked the same song, I can pick any old rubbish from the year and you'll all have to vote for it.

I think it's pretty unlikely we'd all choose the same song for any year (though I can definitely think of some songs that will be duplicated). But I'd rather see the best songs feature than having a bunch of obscure songs - not that obscure/unknown songs can't also be great, but for me that's not what Time Machine is about.

Yep, there's one act (you will probably know which) that I had to fight myself not to nominate for 3 years! Won't say which version of myself won that fight

Thanks for the heads-up, but the 2010s really isn't my era at all, so I'll be sitting this one out.
I am looking forward to the 1970s Time Machine!

Originally I was planning to sit the 70s one out but thinking about it I do know and like a lot more music from the decade than I originally thought. 60s or earlier would be a hard pass though... unless we're talking hundreds of years earlier
