Just drawing the attention of previous HTM entrants to this:- DJ nordy , lewis17 , Mic1812 , Milliways , rubcale , vastarin er And also a few music enthusiasts who might want to participate:- Jordan , darkstar79 , krescendo , onehitwonder , PurpleCareBear , Robbie , SherriffFatman , suedehead , woz123 Thanks but I've little ineterest in the 10's or most of the 00's either.
Most of my music listening is Golden Oldies - I do hear some new music on Haven but that's it.
Sad but until the 00's when music died my whole family life on Sundays was based on being near a radio from 1700-1900hrs!
Even the charts are only of passing interest now.

I'd like to invite you to listen to the songs entered in HTM 2010s. And if like enough of them, then to vote. The line-up already is fantastic, and I think you might be pleasantly surprised. (But, of course, I could be deluded).

Yep agreed, you may find yourself surprised, we will all have trawled the very best so i'm sure there will be some you like or song you never heard that you will like as well.

Personally in the 90s 95% of what I chart is chart music with the odd song that missed the chart, maybe 2 songs a week
Come the 00s it was maybe 50//50, It was a decade for MTV2 music/festival bands to chart
Come the 2010s I'd say less than 1% of my music is chart music but I think it was a very strong decade for music, it was just a DIY decade, or more FIY (find it yourslef) because radio and TV stopped playing it so record companies stopped pushing it so charts stopped charting it, but there are hundreds if not thousands of great acts around, take Melody Club for example.
But i get it, its a hard decade to like, the best songs dont chart and tiktok memes top the chart, its a very confusing time for music

Similar to my chart, although the significant changes for me came in April 1998 and January 2007, and then a bit later.
In April 1998 I was too busy to listen to the top 40 and also worked abroad for a few months and decided I would just go to the local store and buy what was on the new release shelves and base my chart on that, regardless of whether they reached the UK chart, and that became the pattern until the end of 2006, during which time I got married and also accumulated a huge stack of CD singles. However because there were limited numbers of releases on physical CD a high proportion of them did reach the UK chart, albeit sometimes only the top 75 (or top 100) and not the top 40.
Come 2007 and downloading became the big thing and it was also a relief to Carol that there would be no more CDs, but that caused me to somewhat drift away from the UK chart even though Mika got to #1 early on in both. In finding my playlist I was using 7-digital and iTunes to guide me and they tended to list some of the bigger ones that reached the chart,
Come 2012 and now Spotify is the big thing, and I have different scripts to help me find songs for the playlist. At this point I started to drift even further away from the chart. So whilst in 2007-2011 there was still a fair amount of overlap, it feels like the overlap from my chart's hits and what actually reached the UK chart was a handful of songs.

I've never really done a personal chart for long periods of time (except the retro ones for Haven), but I used to buy most of what charted from iTunes, until it crashed in 2017 and I lost all my playlists.
I then finally took the plunge to Spotify, and because all the music was there I stopped making an effort to listen to everything that got in the charts and have gradually lost touch with it. Every now and again I will listen to the top 40 playlist though, and there is still some good stuff getting in - but there is also a lot that blends into one.

I won't be entering, but I'll have a nosey at the songs when revealed and vote if I like enough of 'em.

Latest Update 1
Most entrants have submitted their songs, decided whether they want to replace none/some/all duplicates, and provided a list of replacements.
Two competitors are still working on the replace none/some/all decision, and need to provide a list of replacements for any/all tracks where they do want to replace if duplicated.
One, two, or three possible entrants are still compiling their lists. Which is fine. But the sooner I get them, the sooner I can sort out the duplicates situation.
Note to future hosts: Although the "replace none/some/all duplicates" rule seems to have been well received by most people, it is bloody complicated to manage from a host's point of view. Identifying duplicates is easy. But then you need to register which category the entrant falls into for that round, and find a way of recording this on your master spreadsheet. You then need to take action as appropriate - e.g. keep both duplicates, or replace one of the duplicates, or flip a coin and then replace one of them. And you can't do this until you have every entry, and complete clarity on the competitors' point of view for each song.
All competitors will know which songs they are entering before the competition starts. But, obviously, I can't let you know yet, until everyone else has submitted all of their songs.

Latest Update 2
The song quality is very high, and the song variety is immense. I'm really excited to see how this pans out.
Thank you very much to everyone who has said they'll take part, including those who will be non-participant voters.
