No, they should have got promoted last season by beating Barnsley at home on their final game. Is this one of those super weird posts where you blame other teams for your own team being crap? Have Middlesbrough never suffered because other results didn't go your way on the final day of the season?

Have Middlesbrough never suffered because other results didn't go your way on the final day of the season? Yes, but if Middlesbrough find themselves in a situation where they're reliant on other results, that's on them. They've had 9 months to get the job done under their own steam.

So the national league play off final is at Ashton Gate this season because of the Euros stopping Wembley from being used? Ashton Gate holds 27000, but it could be 25% capacity, so 6-7000 only. You've got Hartlepool, Torquay, Notts County and Stockport left in, all teams that would take at least 10000 if not 20000, so why was Old Trafford not available for a bigger crowd?

Capacity would be capped at 10,000 unless it was classed as one of the government's test events. Still, Ashton Gate seems like an odd choice. But then I've always thought it was b****cks having playoff finals at Wembley anyway.

And they were after a dramatic play off final game, where Torquay's goalkeeper scored in the last seconds of the game to take it to extra time, and then made some good saves in the penalty shootout, but it was still not enough! Pools are back in the FL!

Ha yeah i watched the entire game, it was madness at times, they even missed the first 4 penalties, good to see Hartlepool back in League 2 though, Jeff Stelling will be happy

Dont you hate it when the commentators say we dont want to see scenes of the fans on the pitch, as long as they're not looking to cause bother, let them celebrate, I know I'd have got on the Stags pitch to celebrate our championship out of that hellhole if I wasn't sat in the upper stand! Continued sanitisation of football by the TV companies, pay your money to subscibe to watch, but dont celebrate like a real fan would!

Blimey, that's come as a shock! I haven't seen much of the u23s in recent years (barely even followed them last season) but he's a left winger and was highly rated. At the start of the season it was thought he may even make the bench as we didn't have a big squad and obviously 9 subs available but he just disappeared, think it later came out he had a serious injury (after checking he didn't play much for the u23s last season). He never did make the bench in the end I don't think, even in the cup. I'd forgotten he was out of contract, but given he's only 19 is there a fee involved? Will be interesting to see how he does. Think if Reading offered him a new contract and he rejected it there will be a tribunal fee set at some point with him being 19 Sorry to bump up last season's thread but as this was mentioned in here thought it easier just to quote daz here. Any issues then no problem with the post being moved to this season's thread. From what i understand we offered him a new contract but as he was aware of West Ham's interest he turned it down, so we just triggered a year extension which meant West Ham had to agree a fee with us. Means we got more than just compensation for him.

Nice, West Ham are on a big rebuild of their youth squad at the moment, just signed 3 promising kids, which im always more excited to see develop than spending 40m on big foreign flops!
