Not that I was waiting until exactly 9 this morning for this to appear on YouTube. Like this on first full listen - not as instant as Scared Of The Dark.

Better than about 80% of their last album at least - but yeah, definitely not a patch on Scared of the Dark on first impression.

It's ok on first listen, 2nd listen slightly better, it's a grower i think

When I saw the thread my reaction was that it was about the future for the group and if they might be splitting up.
I like it - good solid Steps track on first play and suspect Mark might be right about it being a grower.
Unfortunately the dynamics now mean that they're unlikely to chart again - in the good old days any of their recent singles would have been big hits especially Story Of A Heart.
Scared Of The Dark making #37 was unreal.

Shouldn't they be renamed Stannah Stairlifts?

Obviously it’s right up my alley. Love the ridiculous artwork as well.

Steps announce new album What The Future Holds, 2021 tour supported by Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Steps have announced their brand new album What The Future Holds, the record's lead single and the supporting 2021 UK arena tour.
The pop legends will put out their sixth studio album on November 27, 2020, preceded by the title track lead single coming this Wednesday (September 9). What The Future Holds, which was written by Sia, will get its world premiere on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.
The album - their first with their new record label BMG - will be available on all digital platforms plus be available on signed CD, vinyl (including a limited edition transparent pink edition and picture disc exclusive to Amazon), cassette and cassette box set; each of the five cassettes in the boxset have a unique intro from a different member of the band.
Claire, Faye, H, Lee and Lisa will embark on a UK arena tour in November 2021, supported by Sophie Ellis Bextor. The 14-date jaunt kicks off in Sheffield on November 2, ending in Bournemouth on December 1. Said to reflect "both a deeper shade of blue and a brighter future", the new album sees Steps reconnect with regular songwriting partners Fiona Bevan, Ina Wroldsen and Karl Twigg plus features songs written by Adele and P!nk hitmaker Greg Kurstin, Kylie collaborator Hannah Robinson and recent Number 1 act MNEK.
Steps have scored 14 UK Top 10 singles during their careers so far, including the Number 1 double A-side Heartbeat/Tragedy and the chart-topping Stomp. Their comeback album 2017's Tears On The Dancefloor spawned the Top 40 single Scared Of The Dark, reached Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart and Number 1 on the Independent Albums Chart.
Steps' What The Future Holds tracklisting
1. What The Future Holds 2. Something In Your Eyes 3. Clouds 4. To The Beat Of My Heart 5. Father's Eyes 6. One Touch 7. Under My Skin 8. Heartbreak In This City 9. Come And Dance With Me 10. Don't You Leave Us Halfway 11. To The One 12. Hold My Heart

Lots of formats for the fans then! Assuming there will be a grat next, and then the Jenny Silver cover as the second single?
I am assuming that the Ina Wroldsen involvement is just the straight cover of Ask Embla "Fathers Eyes"!

At the moment it's not grabbing me in the same way that 'Scared of the dark' did, but it could be a grower (like the new Kylie song was) so I'm going to stick with it!

Ha Ha. I started listening to this because lets be honest, they have made some very good singles (as well as some less than good ones), it starts off like a Kylie banger, then gets to the chorus and I thought this is a very Sia-like chorus, and lo and behold scrolling down the thread I find out it is.
They have certainly released far worse singles than this pretty decent effort which on first listen leaves more of a positive impression than the latest Kylie single did (but that was a bit of a slow burner).

Steps' comeback is the one from the most disappointed albums for me. It's more dance music than pure pop. My top 5 : 1. It's The Way You Make Me Feel 2. Say You'll Be Mine 3. Someone Like You (Faye's duet with Russell Watson, possibly the best song, recorded by a duet) 4. Another You, Another Me (H and Claire album is a good contender for my all-time # 1) 5. Heartbeat

Scared Of The Dark would have been massive back in the 90s/ 00s although I preferred Story Of A Heart On the Tears album.
Scared would have been a better choice than Stomp in the recent HF.

Story Of A Heart is only one their new song, which sounds like old Steps.

Story Of A Heart is only one their new song, which sounds like old Steps. It is a brilliant song, even if I do prefer the Benny Andersson band version.
