Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out This is Oasis at probably their most emotional, and what a classic it is! It just rips at your heart-strings and won't let go, and I really think this is one of the best songs Noel Gallagher ever wrote.

Sorry, I've just been powering my way through them without pausing at the end of each year. Feel free to keep giving your lists of bests and worsts if you wish though.

Scooter - The Logical Song Scooter are a Eurodance hardcore techno act from Germany, and this takes the hook from the 70s Supertramp classic, which is such a great song that it's really hard not to like this one too. I actually find it hard not to like Scooter anyway, they just do what they do so well.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way We're in classic indie territory now, and one of the Chili Peppers' best tunes. Apart from a Greatest Hits, 'By The Way' was actually the only album of theirs I ever owned. I don't know what made me choose that one in particular to buy, but every song on it is brilliant, and this was the ideal lead single to promote it. Still sounds excellent!

S Club Juniors - Automatic High Not the ideal record to follow a RHCP classic like 'By The Way', and I have to confess to not having any recollection of this song whatsoever. It sounds even more child-like than their last one I listened to - which at least had a bit of a catchy tune, this is just awful - especially when you consider it beat some brilliant entries that week by Shakira (Underneath Your Clothes) and Vanessa Carlton (A Thousand Miles).

Coldplay - In My Place Oh well thank goodness for Coldplay! I must admit I wasn't into them at the time this came out, but now I can accept that this song and 'Yellow' are absolute masterpieces and among the best songs of the last twenty five years. Looking back this was the perfect lead single for their second album, and really should have knocked Darius off the #1 spot. It just gives me goosebumps every time. An easy 10/10.

Appleton - Fantasy This was the debut, and biggest hit, for short-lived duo Appleton, who were previously members of All Saints. I must admit it hadn't really stayed etched in my memory, but that said I do think it's got a pretty strong chorus and can see why it was popular at the time. I couldn't hum anything else by them though.

Liberty X - Got To Have Your Love When you hear the opening bars of this there is not much to distinquish it from the Mantronix original (which is wonderful by the way!), but once the vocals kick in you realise it is just going to be a pale imitation. I've nothing against Liberty X, and think they have done some decent-ish songs, but this is just lacking in that something special that the original had.

Oasis - Little By Little/She Is Love More proof that Oasis didn't use up all of their best tunes on their first two albums, because I think 'Little By Little' is a fantastic song and one that I come back to quite a lot - it doesn't really sound like anything else they did, tunewise. I actually think that 'Heathen Chemistry' is one of their most underrated albums.
'She Is Love' isn't on that level of greatness, but it's still pretty good. I know a lot of their stuff sounds Beatles-esque, but I could definitely have imagined John, Paul, George and Ringo recording this one.

Holly Valance - Down Boy It's easy to forget that ex-Neighbours star Holly Valance had hits other than 'Kiss Kiss', but I have to admit that I had. This to me sounds like a poor attempt at creating 'Kiss Kiss' part 2, and it just sounds like a mess of a song to me, with very little in the way of a tune. I'm sorry if she has any fans on here but it's pretty rubbish really.

There are better songs on the album, Naughty girl is a nice surprise. Also I think her second album was ahead of its time and very well produced (just like Rachel Stevens). If those albums were Kylie's or Robyn's, they would be praised, but not Holly or Rachel, because they are just pretty faces after all.

Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight On the day following Kylie's 'Disco'-tastic new album it feels quite appropriate to listen to something that would fit right on there!
No artistic evolution in 20 years? Makes sense.

No artistic evolution in 20 years? Makes sense. She has done other things but has gone back to what she does the best. I don't see the problem with that if the tunes are good (which they most definitely are on 'Disco').

S Club Juniors - New Direction Crikey, I genuinely didn't realise this group had had so many big hits - this is another one that I have absolutely no recollection of whatsoever. Like the title suggests, this is a step up from the throwaway pop sound of their previous singles, and it has a more R&B/ dance vibe to it. I don't know what to make of it really - I don't hate it, but it's not something I'll be rushing to add to my 'to keep' playlist either!

Justin Timberlake - Like I Love You I actually bought Justin Timberlake's debut solo album, from which this was the first single - although it's probably over seventeen years since I last listened to it so I can't really remember much about it beyond the singles, which I obviously liked enough to purchase it at the time. This is still a pretty good debut though, and the Hip-Hop style suits him perfectly. It hasn't aged badly either, as I am still getting plenty of enjoyment from it now! A very good career move for Mr. T, I think!
