I came on here to say 'Sweet child o mine' and 'Sweet Caroline' but was beaten to it. Glad nobody has said 'Sweet Like Chocolate' yet though! I did

Nobody has yet mentioned this song. This is the original version, although Michael Bolton wrote the song and later recorded it himself and had the only hit version with it in the UK

For me THE great HOW song is LeAnn Rimes How Do I Live (and CONAIR's a blast of a film).
Interstingly, HDIL finished higher in the year end chart than it peaked in the weekly chart.

27. GET :: 109 songs
Special mention to James Brown, who contributes 3 of those 109 songs:- Get On The Good Foot, Get Up (I Feel Like Being A Sex Machine) and Get Up Offa That Thing
Other highlights:-
Get A Job - Silhouettes Get Down On It - Kool & the Gang Get Down Tonight - KC & the Sunshine Band Get In The Swing - Sparks Get Ready For This - 2 Unlimited Get The Balance Right - Depeche Mode Get The Party Started - Pink
Rather than picking any of the superb, but well known, number one hits, my mood today takes me to two out-of-fashion lesser hits from 1979:-
Get It - Darts (which, unusually for this band, is an original composition) Get It Right Next Time - Gerry Rafferty
I'll put the next song up on Friday so everyone GETS a chance to have their go.

Some great Get songs around. I support your mention of Get Ready For This - I'm not a 2 Unlimited fan at all, but if they'd only released that one and then never been heard of again I'd be saying they were great.
Also worthy of a mention...
Get A Life by Soul II Soul Get Back by The Beatles Get In The Ring by Guns N' Roses - the song that taught me how to swear creatively, an undervalued skill that you need to learn from somewhere Get It On by T Rex Get Lucky by Daft Punk & Pharrell Get On The Dancefloor by Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock - excellent use of the Jacksons sample, and the second time Rob Base has appeared in this thread already Get Your Freak On by Missy Elliot - straight from my Halloween playlist
I imagine the brilliant Gett Off by Prince is disqualified, although what exactly he was aiming to achieve with the extra 't' I have never worked out.
As an absolute favourite I am going to go with Gomez, the wonderful Get Myself Arrested

No Oleta Adams - Get Here?
2 Unlimited would get my vote right now. Or Billy Ocean.
