The longlist for the BBC's Sound of 2021 has been revealed, with a strong showing for DIY pop artists and UK rap.
Norway's Girl In Red is the most prominent name on the list, with seven million fans playing her lo-fi tales of teenage angst on Spotify every month.
She's joined by bedroom pop artist Griff, psychedelic soul singer Greentea Peng and rap maverick Pa Salieu.
Now in its 19th year, the list looks at the best rising talent in music. Former winners include Adele and Celeste.
This year's longlist was compiled by a panel of 161 industry experts, including former nominees Billie Eilish and Stormzy. The winner will be announced in January on BBC News and BBC Radio 1.
The 10 acts in the running are:
Alfie Templeman - 17-year-old alt-pop singer and producer from Bedfordshire
Berwyn - R&B artist from London
Bree Runway - Rapper and singer hailing from London
Dutchavelli - British rapper who is also Stefflon Don's younger brother
Girl In Red - Norwegian bedroom pop star
Greentea Peng - A psychedelic R&B siren hailing from East London
Griff - 19-year-old pop artist from Hertfordshire
Holly Humberstone - British pop singer whose toured with Lewis Capaldi
Pa Salieu - British-Gambian rapper
The Lathums - Wigan rock group

I have heard of 7 of them but only really know 4, very happy to see Holly Humberstone didn't know she was high enough profile for this.

Bree Runway - Is this where flying cheese lands? At least we know why Alfie Templeman is on TOTP now, as he obviously wins this *spoiler* Disappointed to not see Olwyn, Boy in Blue, Whitetea Pong, Rhys or Ap Ueilas nominated

Bree Runway would be my pick from the ones I know. She is mostly a rapper, but she does sing too. This one is especially good...

I was listening to Girl In Red earlier, and really enjoyed - the others have no idea who they are!

Not paid much attention to Greentea Peng before today, but made a playlist of her stuff and been thoroughly enjoying.

Rapper Pa Salieu has won BBC Music's Sound of 2021 - identifying him as Britain's most exciting musical talent thanks to his adventurous, infectious tracks with hard-hitting lyrics about life and death on the "frontline" in Coventry.
In topping the Sound of 2021 list, Pa Salieu follows in the footsteps of previous winners like Adele, Ellie Goulding and Michael Kiwanuka.

Who won it last year? I guess “Sound Of...” has no power at all lately. This top doesn’t correlate with artist future success anymore...

Celeste hardly did any good last year exept for the one good single. The christmas single featured on an advert i think killed her. The public didnt go for that song at all.
But another rapper again, wold rather it gone to Girl In Red or Alfie Templeman.
So the sound of 2021 is gonna be the same sound we had all last year with endless rubbish and the good stuff doing bugger all. Thank god for The Weeknd.
