Voting is now closed. 17 people voted, which is fantastic.
The Top 3 were separated by just 9 points, and accounted for more than half of the 30 point scores between them.
None of the entries did really badly, especially considering there were fewer voters, and more songs to spread the point across. It was one of those games where someone, sadly, had to come last, but probably wouldn't have done so on another day.
There were some MASSIVE hits in this round. How did they fare ? Did some of them suffer from voter fatigue ? Or did their familiarity, and the traits which made them such big sellers, take them to the top ?
Uptown Funk and Happy, along with Get Lucky, are IMO the ‘terrible trio’ of repetitive, irritating, inescapable and inexplicably successful pop hits of the 2010s. But Get Lucky did well in the Grand Final, so the other 2 probably will too in this.
For me none of them come even close to Edge of Glory as a great pop song, so I’m hoping that wins (I know my 30- and 25-pointers will be closer to the bottom than the top!)
