Between Boxing Day and New Year's Day I will be revealing various lists of our favourite songs and artists.
Does anyone want to predict their top song and artists for the year and the overall combined retro number one and artist for the year?
Earl Purple raliverpool Whitneyfan smokeyb Shireblogger popchartfreak o darkstar79 Mark.
This time it will have more lists than before. Including the top scoring songs of the last 4 years of the retro charts, plus the top scoring acts of the last 4 years.

Oooh, no idea though I suspect The Delfonics will have the top single There isnt one single dominating act, and I cant recall who did best in my charts. Bridge Over Troubled Water maybe? Maybe S&G will sneak it in lots of categories?

My number one of 1970 was "Question" by The Moody Blues. Other massive hits for me were "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Lola" and "Cracklin' Rosie".

My top 10 artists of 1970 were:
10. The Beatles. (516) 3 hits (including Something crossing over from 1969), biggest "Let It Be". 9. Stevie Wonder (553). 4 hits (including Yester-Me Yester-You Yester-Day crossing over a bit from 1969), biggest hit "Signed Sealed Delivered (I'm Yours)". 8. Moody Blues (561). Only one hit Question but it was the biggest hit of the year. 7. Christie (569). 2 hits, and actually "San Bernadino" was the bigger 6. Mary Hopkin (579). 3 hits, biggest "Knock Knock Who's There". 5. Carpenters (608). 2 hits, the bigger was "We've Only Just Begun" 4 Jackson Five (628). 4 hits, the biggest "I'll Be There" (but "I Want You Back" first charted in 1969 and was a bigger hit) 3. Creedence Clearwater Revival (705). 6 hits! "Up Around The Bend" was the biggest 2. Neil Diamond. (826) 5 hits, Cracklin' Rosie by far the biggest 1. The Kinks (896). 3 hits, "Apeman" still #1 at the end but the biggest was "Lola" and "Victoria" was their other hit.
The Beatles were only a quarter of a point ahead of Marmalade, with Badfinger 3.5 points behind them, then there's a big gap to Simon & Garfunkel.
