4 Ike & Tina Turner - Proud Mary 7.5 4 Elvis Costello - Oliver's Army 7.5
That was a difficult match up to select from. Will be interesting to see which, if either, survives round 2.
6 Stevie Wonder - I Wish 9 6 Chicago - 25 Or 6 To 4 5 6 Doors - Roadhouse Blues 5
That rather destroys Earl Purple's persistent complaint, since he got eliminated early from Haven Factor, that Haven hates Stevie Wonder.
11 Kinks - Lola 12 11 Wreckless Eric - Whole Wide World 0 11 Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell 7
The biggest surprise of the round for me. Not Eric's 0 - he had no chance against those two. But I would have backed Meat Loaf to beat what, for me, is one of the Kinks' weaker big hits.
14 Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays 9 14 Abba - Chiquitita 9
Bodes well for the rest of this, with rock vs pop evenly poised.
19 Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run 8 19 Rainbow - Since You Been Gone 8
Another surprise. I'd've expected Born To Run to crush Rainbow.
Good start.

Good start. he's not up against Kasabian, Feeder, Kelly Clarkson or Lady Gaga here, who Haven obviously feel are far superior musical acts. Chicago is too old-house for Haven, and I've never even heard of that Doors song. Riders On A Storm, Light My Fire or People Are Strange would probably beat Stevie Wonder. I'm not even sure if people listened to that Chicago song as it sounds totally different from the Peter Cetera era.

I've never even heard of that Doors song. It was a #4 hit on my personal chart in 1970. This appears in the retro-chart thread you contribute to. How dare you endlessly bang on about your personal chart, when you don't pay even one second's attention to anyone else's. If you could be bothered, you might have given it a listen, and possibly discovered a great new song.

No doubt critically acclaimed because, well, it's the Doors... and in the case of Light My Fire and Riders On A Storm rightly so, they are totally great works. With this one I can't really see that much appeal, seems to follow an old formula.

I know it as I got into the Doors after the Oliver Stone movie like many my age, I bought the Best Of and played it to death, not one of my faves but it is still better than many songs on this list.

I Wish is on my current 1976 playlist which covers only 3 weeks, but also has Money Money Money, Somebody To Love and the classic Living Next Door To Alice (without any swear words) on it. And that's a playlist of just 16 songs. Definitely "my era", may of these were in my first chart.

Round 1 2/11 Update:
Thank you for the 19 sets of votes. You have another 24 hours to get your votes in for the second set of votes.
Every track has got off the mark, whilst 8 of the 23 matches have two points or less between 1st & 2nd.
I'll post up the Round 1 3/11 up in the next 30 minutes or so for you to start listening to vote on... But I think one of the matches in this next section is brutal.
