I believe this is the second time that Ed Joyce has been on the winning side in an England v Ireland world cup match. It would have been interesting if Eoin Morgan had been fit to play for England today!
Quirky fact: Both of Ireland's group-stage victories in the World Cup have come a few days after a tied match in the same group.

Group A: Sri Lanka (146/1) beat Kenya (142) by 9 wickets (188 balls remaining) Collins Obuya scored the slowest century in World Cup history (95 balls), only to see his brother David Obuya beat the record (104 balls). They were the only two Kenyans to reach double figures (bar extras). Lasith Malinga scored a hat-trick (and conceded 5 wides off the next ball!), and finished with 6/38 (none of his wickets requiring assistance from a fielder). Do you mean half century? I don't see how two players can score a century when the whole team only make 142. I did of course mean half-century. I have no idea if this is the lowest (all-out) team total to include 2 half-centuries.

Group A: Pakistan (317/7) beat Kenya (112) by 205 runs.
4 Pakistanis managed 50s - apparently a World Cup first - and Extras were only 4 away (there were 37 wides!).
Kenya's last 6 batsmen scored the grand total of 2 runs between them.

Unusually, England had more home-born players than their opponents in this match!

![:(](//storage.proboards.com/999290/images/xKFbNBMdczwHHIvwbxXw.gif) There seem to be a couple of parallels between Kubica and Alessandro Nannini - Nannini's only F1 win came in a race where that season's champion crashed into a rival, and his arm was severed in a helicopter crash (whilst he was with Benetton - the team that would become Renault), ending his F1 career (although he did return to racing). Hopefully Kubica will be back eventually.

[pedant]Minardi actually only qualified 2nd, not 1st, in that race.[/pedant]
Minardi have however topped at least one timed session - in the Friday qualifying for France 2003 (whose sole purpose was to decide the order for the Saturday single-lap shootout), they ended up 1st and 2nd, however Justin Wilson was found to be underweight and had his time deleted. Jos Verstappen still ended up fastest, however it was business as usual on Saturday.
