SPOTLIGHT (LINKS): #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 16, 17, 18, 28, 29, 30 (most others can be found on YouTube) DEBUTS: Fleur East is the top debut with "(Play That) Sax" a snappy, Popish-Dance track. Ben Delay puts a second release onto the chart, an Electro-House remake of Brandy & Monica's " The Boy Is Mine".... (this must be the year for that song) and it's HOT. "Not This Time" from Namy & Kathy Brown is a bouncy, House track thanks to the Michele Chiavarini remix that puts it into orbit. 99 Soul's "The Girl Is Mine" has debut into the official USA Dance chart and moves to SUPER TRACK status (see chart methodology below). Always a fan of the Manhattan Transfer's 1979 classic " Twilight Zone" we almost added it to USA Dance Mix, but the original was a bit Popish and slow. Lenny Fontana has taken care of that with his rehash, "Twilight" which updates the original greatly. TRAXSOURCE SAMPLE This track is not currently on YouTube

2012 track that has been re-released. The Funky Truckerz sample the Gibson Brother's Disco classic " Cuba" and they do a pretty good job of it. Another example of a song that didn't fit in when it was first released but does fit in with today.

Bubbling since last Summer a House remake of Mousse T.'s "Ooh Song" brings up the rear of the debuts this week. A bit repetitive, and we haven't added it to USA Dance Mix yet, but when we do expect a tight 2:30 or 3:00 edit. Not really a fan of his, and know none of his songs, but every now and then an artist steps outside their comfort zone and is lucky enough to create something memorable.

SPOTLIGHT (LINKS): #3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 24, 25 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 (most others can be found on YouTube) DEBUTS: Several remakes and sample projects, Stereomasters are the top debut with "Freak" a mostly insturmental, funky, House jam. Another new instrumental remix of the Sister Sledge classic " He's The Greatest Dancer" comes in a close second (it's titled "Gold Member" and from Me & My Toothbrush). Manhattan Transfer's " Twilight Zone" is a bit faster and more danceable in this new 2016 House remix from Lenny Fontana. He simply titles it "Twilight" this time out. A 2012 song "Work It" from Funky Truckerz has been re-released and becomes chartable this go around. It samples the Gibson Brother's Disco classic " Cuba". A similar track from 2014 "Pretty Girls In Tight Jeans" by Atilla Cetin is also re-released and added. It samples " It's Time To Party Now" the 1980 hit for Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio. A Summer 2015 remix of "Ooh Song" from Mousse T. titled "Ooh Song (Pt.2)" slides into the last chart position. Do we really need any more proof that old Disco & Dance songs never die, they are just reborn? You bet! Enjoy this instrumental, souped up, remake of "He's The Greatest Dancer," the 1979 Disco classic from Sister Sledge. Until now the Will Smith remake has come the closest to reaching the original. But the song has been "reborn" by several others as well.
The artist's name and track title are even further proof that if you have a great song you can name it and your group just about anything you want to.

Brandy and Destiny's Child combine to form 99 Souls and rehash the Brandy & Monica song "The Boy Is Mine" in this more danceable 2016 gender bending version. Still has a bit of an R&B Dance flavor, but we like it anyway.

A very nice, Dance love song. DeezBootz's "Til The Morning (Comes)" samples Ready For The World's 1985 classic " Oh Sheila". But, this is a classy, high brow, 2016 Dance version which sounds more like Ibiza than Minneapolis. Official release date is Jan. 3rd, so it's still in the promo stage (although we're playing it heavily at USA Dance Mix). Enjoy this Traxsource sample, as YouTube is not there yet. A nice, female vocal House jam containing some just as memorable Disco rhythms set adrift over some deep bass. NICE! Although a bit long at 7:25, our radio edited 3 minute plus version is much tighter with less filler.

2015 turned out to be a pretty good year for the retro and heritage Dance sound. Summer was a "party" of releases and the end of the year gave us more than it's share of the top tracks. ENJOY!
