Daft Punk, the Parisian duo responsible for some of the most popular dance and pop songs of all time, have split. They broke the news with an 8-minute video titled “Epilogue,” excerpted from their 2006 film Electroma. Asked if Daft Punk were no more, their longtime publicist Kathryn Frazier confirmed the new but gave no reason for the breakup.

Sad that there won't be any more music from them but it's not like their absence will really be felt when their albums were so far apart.
I always preferred Air anyway...

Im not surprised, I thought they might have made 1 more album though but calling it a day after Random Access Memories isn't a bad album to end things on, you would've thought if they were going to make another album it would be on the back of that success and have been done by now

I really love a lot of their material but if they change their minds and reform in 10 years it really will be like they were never away! Indeed. They come from the Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel school of releasing albums with increasing gaps in between.
Although there are rumours the real reason for them splitting up is because they can no longer play at James Murphy's house in NYC, due to Covid19 safety measures.
But maybe they felt they could not top this (now) final single:
Thank you Daft Punk, we’ll miss you 1993-2021

They have a few songs that I enjoy on their Homework album. I am not a big fan of heavy auto tune, their other works left me cold. Collaborations with The Weeknd are good!
