Going through the nominees:
Arlo Parks - London Celeste - Brighton Dua Lipa - London J Hus - London Jessie Ware - London Lianne La Havas - London AJ Tracey - London Headie One - London J Hus - London Joel Corry - London Yungblud - London
Not exactly diverse, are they? Apart from a breakthrough artist and a couple of groups, the entire United Kingdom outside the M25 may as well not exist.

Good to see Fontaines DC getting a nod (even though they probably won't win).

But sadly these nominees are much more reflective of what is in the charts than the past few years, although still a few random nominees which no more deserve to be nominated and than any other short lived album hit eg Lianne La Havas, Jessie Ware or Arlo parks. Think its more about having more female nominees and racial diversity than where in the Uk they live. Also not a fan but really think Gerry Cinnamon should have had a nod for British Male, since he had a number one album in that time period. I wont even start about Young T & Bugsey getting nominated ahead of Blossoms, Nothing but Thieves or Bring Me The Horizon, they even increased the eligibility period to 13 December 2019 - 11 March 2021

It's basically an average Radio 1 playlist.

I strongly disagree with you on the Best Album nominees.
I think it is a great list. It is good to see the BRITS take notice of the actual albums and their critical acclaim, rather than their commercial success which has ruined this category for far too long.
Lianne La Havas (sadly not nominated in the Album category) has a Metacritic of 83 - Her third album and by far her best of her career, it is a modern day "What's Going On" musical cycle/concept album, with the songwriting much improved via the help of Matt Hales (aka Aqualung); & co-production by Mura Masa. So she certainly deserves a Best female nomination over the treading water but far more commercially successful Ellie Goulding, & Paloma Faith (a great, albeit depressing documentary on her by the way)
Arlo Parks debut album has a Metacritic rating of 83 - It is a stunningly cohesive self-contained bedroom pop neo soul album dealing with story tales and problems relating to well being & mental health. So incredibly relevant.
J Hus second album has a Metacritic rating of 86 - With this excellent UK #1 effort he has now positioned himself as Grimes' George Ezra to Grimes' Ed Sheeran (Stormzy). A great lyrical flow, and a great listen with a melting pot of influences from afrobeat, soul, drill, dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, garage, to jungle thrown in the mix over its 44 minutes.
Jessie Ware 4th studio album has a Metacritic rating of 84 - A grown up mature club/disco album in the vein of Robyn's Honey only much better. Mostly co-written & co-produced by James Ford (Last Shadow Puppets/Simian Mobile Disco) this was a mainstay of most music publications 2020 Top 20 Y/End album polls (Pitchfork = 9th; Rolling Stone = 9th; musicOMH = 9th; Slant =3rd; Billboard = 1st; etc).
It would have been great if Sault - Untitled (Black Is) got an album nomination, but as they are an anonymous outfit, in keeping with their image they were not submitted to be nominated for the BRITs
Sure our British critics were far more keen on (the surefire winner) Dua Lipa's 2nd album (which I personally think is overrated; along with Celeste's debut album which is a classic case of the several great individual tracks are stronger than the sum of their parts = the very opposite of a great album IMHO).
But if you go down the AOTY 2020 Music Year End List Aggregate for British albums (Celeste & Arlo Parks are 2021 releases) then the top ten were:
5th Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia 8th SAULT - UNTITLED (Black Is) 11th Rina Sawayama - SAWAYAMA (that is a great album too, but possibly too out there for the BRITs)
13th SAULT - Untitled (Rise) 15th Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure? 20th Charli XCX - how i'm feeling now 25th Laura Marling - Song For Our Daughter 27th Porridge Radio - Every Bad 37th J Hus - Big Conspiracy 42nd Lianne La Havas - Lianne La Havas
I think it is correct to reflect the expanded timeframe as after all a bunch of heavyweight acts are sitting on completed albums ready for the Tesco mums to be able to purchase albums after hearing them on Capital, Global, Heart or Magic Radio by Adele (its (then) 12 tracks titles, its title & its cover leaked, along with stills from the Phoebe Waller-Bridge shot video for the first single from her 4th LP towards the end of last year) as her SNL hosting gig was not coincidental, only plans changed with the 3rd global lockdown; Ed Sheeran; & George Ezra which are all in the can ready for release; as hopefully when things open up again with concerts, tours & festivals their will be a shorter timeframe to reflect a busier release schedule.

Im not saying they are bad albums just why were those three singled out. Arlo Parks is a great album but the other two , they both have done much better and there was room for a band in their as well, that’s all. Also I didn’t say they were chart music, I mentioned that they were album hits but why just female album hits, it’s just balance for the sake of it.
But anyway we know most nominees are just making up numbers anyway.
And Rina is better than any of the nominations most critics seem to like MOR that just too edgy for Radio 2 but not too youthful for 6Music in the list you have.

The Brit Awards will go ahead with a live audience next month, as part of the government's research into how live events might work after the pandemic.
The ceremony will take place at London's O2 Arena on 11 May and will be fronted by comedian Jack Whitehall.
The 4,000-strong audience won't need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but will need a negative Covid test.
It's the latest addition to the Events Research Programme, which examines how venues and events can reopen safely.

Great! I think the Brits would only work with an audience.
Also very much in favour of trials like this if it increases confidence in a return to normality soon.
