Welcome to Frank Edwin's 10/17/2021 Salad Bar Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 200 songs waiting to join the buffet. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the chart we are now giving 6 songs each week the special designation of #1 Saladđ„Song.
It is a pleasure to present T. Thomason with our Saladđ„Bowl in honour of âLovers in a Dangerous Timeâ being given the designation of a #1 Saladđ„Song in its 12th week on the chart đđâ€ïžđđ§Ąđđ
On the CBC Music website we read: There's something about T. Thomason's voice that always feels a bit joyous, his heart normally carried on sleeve â and the way the Halifax singer-songwriter covers Bruce Cockburn's 1984 Cold War-inspired hit "Lovers In A Dangerous Time" is no different. The song's '80s synth pulse transforms it into a pop hit that spans the distance between conception and cover, Thomason's vocals starting gently and building to that exuberant release.
"Claiming 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time' as a new queer anthem, during what is hopefully our last pandemic Pride season, has been cathartic and brought me closer to my community," said Thomason via email. "I hope this is the coming-out party 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time' never got but always deserved!!"
#1 Saladđ„Song: T. Thomason - Lovers in a Dangerous Time
It is a joy to welcome violinist, professional performer, event producer, and music educator Kyle Craft to the pinnacle in his 11th week on the chart and place a cherry tomato on top of âTheme From "Schindler's Listâ w/ Pianist Harold Julander giving it the special designation as a #1 Saladđ„Song.
Kyle performs all over Northern California weekly at many diverse events. Currently, Kyle is Concertmaster of the Santa Rosa Junior College Orchestra and a member of the Ukiah Symphony.

Lucy Spraggan returns to the pinnacle of the Salad Bar Top 100 in her 15th week on the chart with her cover of "Bring It All Back."
She shares, "S Club brings back nostalgic memories for me, pretty much any of their songs throws me back to my childhood.đ§đŒ I was sitting at the piano and looked up the lyrics of the song - they are actually quite poignant.đč
Sometimes itâs easy to see past the lyrics of a big pop song like that, I wanted to emphasise the message by making the arrangement smaller. I love that song. Itâs a bop! Let me know what you think!â€ïž"
#1 Saladđ„Song: Lucy Spraggan - Bring It All Back (Live)
"Exactly one Nathan was harmed in the making of this music video. Jk iâm fine."
Indonesian Singaporean singer-songwriter and actor Nathan Hartono brings the declaration "I'm Fine" to the apex of the Salad Barđ„Top 100 in his 14th week on the chart.
On the Super Adrian Me website we read:
"Nathan...is a crash test dummy in an experimental white room in the music video. He is unaware of what awaits. It slowly builds up the tempo through a series of art attacks using raw eggs, watercolour balloons and squashed tomatoes. It escalates into glass bottles, flying hammers and getting punched in the face by a mysterious boxing glove. Nathan remains poised to take in all the hits.
The...singer-songwriter personally handpicked all the props featured in the video. He describes the music video as a visual depiction of what life feels like sometimes â an unending barrage of nonsense that we are forced to smile through because thatâs what other people expect of us."
#1 Saladđ„Song: Nathan Hartono - I'm Fine
âLoved you more than a boyfriend, more than a brother"
"Then I called you a sinner / Ainât no sin bigger.â
In her 14th week on the chart Texas-based Singer/Songwriter/Working Woman Grace Pettis is presented with our Saladđ„Bowl in honour of âLandonâ her moving song about forgiveness and redemption reaching the pinnacle of the Salad Barđ„Top 100.
Merryn Johns writes the following for Queer Forty magazine:
"...Grace Pettis packs her music with as much purpose as poetry, and there is no better example of this than her succinct, biographical ballad âLandonâ â a heartfelt apology from Pettis to her gay best friend from high school. The inseparable pair grew up together in small town Alabama, enjoying a friendship which involved football, church, and dreaming beyond Bible belt life, all while taking the matter of faith very seriously. So when Landon came out as gay to Pettis, she couldnât reconcile who he was with what she believed in.
âLoved you more than a boyfriend, more than a brother,â sings Pettis soulfully on her track âLandon,â named in honor of her friend. âThen I called you a sinner / Ainât no sin bigger,â continue the lyrics which ask for his forgiveness of her past bias. âAnd there ainât one damn thing wrong with you,â she concludes.
âLandon needed somebody to be on his side,â recalls Pettis. âHe trusted me. And I let him down. Years of soul-searching, prayer, and information gathering led me to a very different place. I knew that I had wronged Landon in a way that I could only explain in a song.â With her uniquely deft lyrics Pettis addresses the origin of intolerance and enlists the power of music to heal. The first year she sang âLandonâ live she couldnât get through it without crying, but the process has been cathartic. The friends have patched things up and both agree the song is a meaningful way to help others learn acceptance.
âLandon and I are close again now, thanks in part to the song,â shares Pettis. âAnd we both love that it sheds a little light in the world for the next generation of gay kids growing up in the South, and for their best friends and families and all the people that love them.â

Jak Woodlawn is a singer-songwriter from the UK who enjoys writing indie folk music. His music includes warm, multi-tracked and reverb heavy guitar, piano and vocals and his lyrics deal with his experiences with love, heartbreak, mental health, sexual identity, loneliness and isolation.
Jak grew up surrounded by music. His earliest memories of it include travelling to the South of France with his family; ELO's 'Time' blasted from the car radio. His Dad taught him his first few chords on the guitar and after a while, father and son would be staying up until the early hours of the morning jamming to a wide catalogue of songs from the seventies.
In summer of 2020, Jak released his debut EP 'A Rogue At The Door'. Using an acoustic guitar, an external microphone, a portable interface and his iPhone, he sat in his Devon bedroom and recorded his first four songs to see their way onto streaming services. Different influences soon came flooding in from different genres and time periods, such as David Bowie, ELO, Elliott Smith, Marina and the Diamonds, Fleet Foxes, The Velvet Underground, Phoebe Bridgers, Conor Oberst and Bon Iver.
For 13 weeks now Jak has been sharing â[We Ought To Stay Away From] Beggarwood Park.â Thank you for the music. We congratulate you on your first #1 Saladđ„Song!!
