Welcome to Frank Edwin's 10/31/2021 Salad Barđ„Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 200 songs waiting to join the buffet. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the chart we are now giving 6 songs each week the special designation of #1 Saladđ„Song.
It is a pleasure to present The Aces with our Saladđ„Bowl in honour of âSleepy Eyesâ being given the designation of a #1 Saladđ„Song in its 11th week on the chart.
Sisters Cristal and Alisa Ramirez (vocals/guitar and drums, respectively), McKenna Petty (bass), and Katie Henderson (lead guitar/vocals)âall friends since grade school in Provo, Utah, USAâmake up the four-piece pop band. After releasing their album âUnder My Influenceâ in July last year, the Aces returned with two b-sides from the album sessions, âSleepy Eyesâ and âAren't You.â
The band shares, ââSleepy Eyesâ was the first song to open a new sonic chapter for us, that then snowballed into what is now âUnder My Influence,ââ They continue, âIts story was inspired by late summer nights spent in the sleepy eyes of a lover. It brings a feeling of nostalgia when we hear it, and we hope that youâll feel that too while you listen.â
#1 Saladđ„Song: The Aces - Sleepy Eyes
"I had to run away from my convenient life
To get a better look at what is wrong and right
Did I forget to count my blessings on the way?
Was it the fear that made me think that night was day?"
Those are the opening lyrics to the groovy "Revolution" from artist Elias Bendix who teamed up with New Orleans soul legend Derwin âBig Dâ Perkins for a contagiously late â80s funk anthem. Their collaboration reaches the pinnacle in its 13th week on the chart. The path of Elias is one of colourful detours: He played with brass bands in New Orleans, attended hippie parties in the Mexican jungle, and swirled himself into a jam with Prince. We only recently discovered his music. When he announced that he would be playing at the Baltimore Pride online event earlier this year he shared:
"Love means no boundaries and with love we can share wonderful human experiences together. Through music I find unity in all different kinds of genres and in ode to Pride, the theme goes for music as it should be for humans...
Love has many languages and I like to use music as a means to reach out to everyone around the world. My music is a combination of funk, soul, jazz and pop with the hint of sounds borrowed from the decade of the 80âs."
It is a joy to place a cherry tomato on top of âRevolutionâ awarding it the special designation as a #1 Saladđ„Song.
#1 Saladđ„Song: Elias Bendix - Revolution
âTag my ear with my new number // this little pig awaits the slaughter // and as they rolled me to my new carving block // I swear I saw a pin dropâ
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, USA we are delighted to give Rascal Miles their first Saladđ„Bowl in honour of âTailor-Madeâ becoming a #1 Saladđ„Song in its 12th week on the chart.
âThis is the anthem that transgender kids are asking for. I wrote this song about my experience having gender affirming top surgery, and the lyrics tell about it through a scavenger hunt of metaphors. As a trans non-binary man, I want to share my story to help pave the way for other genderqueer kids from small backwards towns.
Self-recorded in my home studio during the pandemic shut down, everything you hear (guitars, drums, cello, keys, trombone, 4-part harmonies, bass, sewing machine!), I played/sung myself. This song is my heart and soul vulnerably laid out into an intentionally-curated work to make a difference.â
#1 Saladđ„Song: Rascal Miles - "Tailor-Made"
We are delighted to give Daniel Tejera from Madrid, Spain his first Saladđ„Bowl in honour âSangre Derramada (Blood Spilled)â becoming a #1 Saladđ„Song in its 14th week on the chart.
The music video was created between the months of March and April 2020, during the first COVID lockdown, and for Daniel it was like, "making a nude of my soul. " He highlights two phrases of the composition for the meaning they have for him: "Although the blood spilled is mine, I am still alive" and "A war is not won without wounded."
#1 Saladđ„Song: Daniel Tejera - Sangre Derramada
"take care of yourself
take care of your health
take a bath, maybe
lie in bed, maybe
call your mom, maybe
love yourself, baby"
hi there. my name is sarya and i'm doing okay thanks. my pronouns are she/they, and i am a musical poet from Taiwan based in Edinburgh.
i started as a spoken word poet, performing all over Edinburgh. then, i became more musical in 2017.
i am highly inspired by Scandinavian pop/folk, as well as outsider/DIY music culture/video game soundtracks.
my music is mostly about love ...and silliness. i want to make people laugh and cry. i want to sing about friendship and support. i want people to know that they're not alone, and that loneliness and feeling alien is something that most of us relate to.
i guess i would call my genre sadboi/existential pop/melanchronica (melancholia + electronica)."
the title track from sarya's ep "take care of yourself" joins the deliciously delightful #1 Saladđ„Songs in its 11th week on the chart.
#1 Saladđ„Song: sarya - take care of yourself
In celebration of freedom in love and the LGBTQIA+ and the recent Pride Month, âpagodeiro pocâ JoĂŁo Rosa released, âQuando O Amor Encontra O Orgulho (When Love Meets Pride).â JoĂŁo shares:
âAt such a difficult time in our country, where hate occupies so many spaces, I think that we, LGBTQIA+ artists, have to occupy as many spaces as possible, with our experiences, our love, our pride, and June LGBT+ will do. to give us visibility in this regard. In my case, inside the pagode and the samba, but I think in all possible spaces.
I feel more comfortable in developing my work within this universe, because I think samba and pagode are the styles that I listen to more and I have more reference. However, as our experience is little addressed, this makes room for LGBTs who, like me, have always loved the style, but did not feel represented in the lyrics of the songs. The LGBT relationship is like any other: it has misunderstandings, insecurities, affection and love. And the idea is precisely to address these issues in my songs, showing the pains and delights of being LGBT+ in different ways.â
We are tickled the colors of the rainbow to give âQuando O Amor Encontra O Orgulhoâ the distinction of #1 Saladđ„Song in its 12th week on the chart.
