Welcome to Frank Edwin's 12/5/2021 Salad Bar🥗Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 200 songs waiting to debut on the chart. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the buffet we are giving 6 songs each week the special designation of #1 Salad🥗Song.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Katy Rose Bennett - 'Sleep'
Katy Rose Bennett has been writing and performing her idiosyncratic brand of folk for over 20 years. 'Sleep' is the first single from her upcoming album Alone On A Hill. It is a joy to place a cherry tomato on top awarding it the special designation as a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 12th week on the chart.
“The song was created, recorded and produced by Bennett in her home ‘studio’ (the hallway between her kitchen and lounge) on the rural outskirts of Birmingham, in Spring 2021. It is an ode to insomnia and the longing for sleep, a song of two halves: striking a cappella chords, repeating lyrics and manipulated vocal percussion (representing insomnia’s distortion of time) followed by sweet, yearning, dream-like harmonies that drift off into the ether.
Katy received a grant from Arts Council England in December 2020 which gave her space, time and resources to experiment and explore the process of creating music with just her voice (and a bit of body percussion). She didn’t intend to create an album out of the process – it was all about playing and experimenting – which paradoxically meant she had the freedom to make this album.” FRUK Staff
#1 Salad🥗Song: Marshmellow - A Serious Boy
"To celebrate 35 years since gay law reform in NZ I created this tribute video for a song of mine 'A Serious Boy' - featuring historic photos of gay couples. Some amazing and moving images - how far we have come, and how things stay the same."
It is a pleasure to present New Zealand-based composer Marshall Smith (aka Marshmellow) with his first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of 'A Serious Boy' being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 12th week on the chart.

"I don’t know when I exactly first noticed it.
But it feels like it’s always been there.
You see, I’ve calculated and re-calculated my age
in relation to the world around me
thousands of times.
To convince myself I’m still young enough,
I can still make that change,
I still have time.
And every birthday, every new year, every milestone,
I seem to find somebody new to compare myself to
another person’s timeline I can use to justify my own."
– Voiceover excerpt from “Move”
Laura Valk and Connor Gladney, who make up indie folk duo Skout, grace the apex of our inclusive musical feast and playlist for the first time with "Move" a song and video about mental health, age and ambition. We congratulate the duo on their first #1 Salad🥗Song!!
““Move” is about feeling stuck, about crippling self-doubt and depressive thinking. It’s an attempt to capture that voice in my head that tells me I’m not where I should be. That I’m not enough. It explores a feeling that’s plagued me my entire life: the notion that I need to achieve certain milestones by certain ages, otherwise I’m “too old” or “too late.””
You will find a great article about this release by Kira Grunenberg for Throw The Dice And Play Nice:

Welcome to the Royal Court of Edward the First, the royal love child of Marie Antoinette and George Michael. "Don't mind me; I'm Renaissancing."
For 12 weeks now Pennsylvania-born and New York-based singer-songwriter, actor Edward the First has been bringing "Renaissancing" to our musical buffet and we are delighted to bow, curtsy, and wave giant tofurkey legs in the air with great abandon to congratulate him on his first #1 Salad🥗Song.
The track comes from Edward’s debut album of the same name, “The Renaissance theme of this album is a commentary on how history repeats itself. America is falling, and entering a Dark Age. 2020-2021 was the year of an indiscriminate plague, and historically speaking, after the plague, there was a Renaissance. My hope is that when all of the dust settles, we enter a beautiful, colorful Renaissance – if we haven’t already.”
#1 Salad🥗Song: Jérémy Frerot - Fais-le
“Listen to your time come / Everything that awaits you at the end of all these ideas / Come, it’s now / Do it, do it, do it (Courage, courage) / Do it, do- do it (Courage, courage)."
The affirming lyrics are from Jérémy Frerot. The popular French artist receives his fist Salad🥗Bowl in honour of the uplifting "Fais-le (Do it)" becoming a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 14th week on the chart
#1 Salad🥗Song: Henry Fricker - Shelter
This week „Shelter” joins the deliciously delightful #1 Salad🥗Songs at the top in its 13th week on the chart. It’s the first for artist Henry Fricker who shares the following about himself on his website:
"Henry is obsessed with universal love and cannot understand why everyone isn’t. His superpower is writing passionate, emotive and uplifting lyrics on top of soulful melodies.
He’s going to save, unite and inspire the world; one song at a time.
The creative process behind Shelter was such a beautiful one, to delve into the emotion of the song carefully plan out every single lyric with my friend and writing partner Joe Not Joseph (joenotjoseph.com) was an experience that I will always remember.
This song was written last year [2019], however the release of it into the world with the current global situation we are all in, seems fate. I can't think of a more perfect lyric to speak about how we are all feeling and, how we all need to offer Shelter to one another.
Although we are in uncertain and scary times, one thing I know for sure is that we all need to rely on each other and spread LOVE and POSITIVE ENERGY to one another.
To your loved ones, friends, colleagues, our incredible key workers and frontline health HEREOS - we are all deserving of love and don't hesitate just to call someone to tell them you are thinking of them and to always #BEKIND.I
