This year's nominees will be announced on Monday, with the ceremony taking place on the 19th. Emma Raducanu is the hot favourite to win after US Open triumph, with Tom Daley and Lewis Hamilton the other leading contenders in the betting.
The nominees for the World Sport Star of the Year have already been announced and voting is open.
The nominees for that award are: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez - Mexican boxer who became the first ever undisputed super middleweight world champion Rachael Blackmore - Irish jump jockey who became the first woman to be leading rider at the Cheltenham Festival and won the Grand National on Minella Times Tom Brady - ageless quarterback who won the Super Bowl for the seventh time in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, having previously won six with the New England Patriots Novak Djokovic - Serbian tennis star who won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year, falling just short of the calendar year grand slam, losing in the final of the US Open Elaine Thompson-Herah - Jamaican sprinter who completed the 100m/200m double for the second Olympics in a row Max Verstappen - Dutch F1 star who is aiming to win his first world title this weekend in Abu Dhabi

Probably a foregone conclusion for Emma Raducanu.
I'm torn between her and Adam Peaty.

Odds for SPOTY:
Usually I'd put the longest price available but there is so much variation, some of the long prices available are giving a false impression of how the overall market looks, so I've listed the shortest price instead.
1/20 Emma Raducanu 7/1 Lewis Hamilton 10/1 Tom Daley 28/1 Tyson Fury 33/1 Adam Peaty 40/1 Sarah Storey 50/1 Jason Kenny 50/1 Joe Root 50/1 Laura Kenny 50/1 Mark Cavendish 50/1 Raheem Sterling 66/1 Fallon Sherrock
Bet365 have a 'Without Emma Raducanu' market: 11/10 Tom Daley 5/4 Lewis Hamilton 7/1 Tyson Fury 10/1 Adam Peaty 20/1 Mark Cavendish 33/1 Fallon Sherrock 33/1 Jason Kenny 33/1 Laura Kenny 33/1 Sarah Storey 40/1 Jonathan Rea (don't think anyone's told them he didn't actually win the World Superbike title this year) 66/1 Hollie Doyle 66/1 Marcus Rashford

Only 6 nominees:
Tom Daley Tyson Fury Adam Peaty Emma Raducanu Raheem Sterling Dame Sarah Storey
So 5 of the top 6 on the Bookies list nommed.
Interstingly Lewis Hamilton not there but I think the final list was decided at the end of last week

Daley should be up for Team with Matty Lee.
Not including Hamilton is staggering. I know there have been many major performances because of the Olympics, but even so at least Storey and Sterling should have been some way behind him.

Emma Raducanu is the first woman to win since Zara Phillips in 2006. Lewis Hamilton remains the only English-born winner since 2007.

This is the third year in a row that there has been an all-English top 3 (2019 was the first such year since 2005).
