Welcome to Frank Edwin's 12/19/2021 Salad Bar🥗Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 200 songs waiting to debut on the chart. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the buffet we are delighted to give 6 songs each week the special designation of #1 Salad🥗Song.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Afterbliss - Remnants
It is a pleasure to present indie rockers Afterbliss with their first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of ‘Remnants’” being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 10th week on the chart. The group formed in June 2019 on an online discussion forum, and is comprised of members from across Ireland, Scotland and Romania. The group is made up of Evan Cassidy on lead vocals, Alex Burcea on lead guitar, synths and backing vocals, Ally Pender on drums, James O’Gorman on rhythm guitar, and Shane Waldron on bass.
“‘Remnants’ is definitely something you can dance to!” says Ally. “But at the same time, it’s quite melodic.” Shane adds, “It’s actually the first song that we all wrote together, with the five of us all in the band, back in 2019. This song has gone through a lot of versions; I feel what we’re releasing now a really good representation of us, and what we can do. It’s us, it’s who we’ve shown ourselves to be already, but it’s also showing more of what we’re capable of, the variety of what we can do.”

““Un'estate andata un po' così (A summer gone a bit like this)” is a journey into the memory of this past quarantine, between gags, clichés and a desire to dance that has remained indelible in all of us. It is an invitation to enjoy being yourself despite isolation, trying to make the most of what we have.”
Lettuce groove as “Un'estate andata un po' così” reaches the apex of the Top 100 feast in its 11th week on the chart giving Mattia Toni from Italy a #1 Salad🥗Song.

#1 Salad🥗Song: Bears in Trees - I'm Doing Push Ups
"moving away is weird"
Bears In Trees return to the pinnacle of the Salad Bar🥗Top 100 in their 11th week on the chart with the exclamation, “I'm Doing Push Ups.“
“’I’m Doing Push-Ups’ is about my first year at university — falling in and out of relationships in an entirely unproductive and unhealthy way, and not stopping to take any time to work out within myself why I felt like if I wasn’t in a relationship I wasn’t whole,” says vocalist Nick Peters. “The push-ups reference is from a rejected chapter from Catch-22; in an army cadet camp, the main character is told that if they’re seriously wounded in battle they need to do push-ups while waiting for the ambulance to… keep up their strength.
i moved away to go to uni (college if you’re american or w/e) and had a weird and gross and sad first year. i kept trying to write a song about it for about five years after until i eventually realised; some things aren’t meant to make sense. some things aren’t meant to be represented. some events don’t make you a better/worse person and there’s no point trying to think about it or ascribe any sort of ~main character energy~ to them. some things just happen and it sucks.
i’m doing push ups is about those things...the music video...[has] a shaved elmo doll bursting out of iain’s stomach. whatever makes you happy. i’m really proud of it.”

The beachy punk, Brooklyn-based Namesake [released] their sophomore LP, Redeeming Features, on October 15, and they are giving fans an extra treat, the…single and video, “Population.”
[Previously known as Honduras] the band adopted a new name after founding member Tyson Moore left the band during the COVID-19 pandemic. The album acts as a sort of healing exercise, though it is surely a fun listen.
“Population” is a commentary on wealth overtaking the heart of NYC. Namesake’s Patrick Phillips talks more about the inspirations behind the track:
“Prior to the pandemic, my younger sister visited NYC, and we decided to take a long random walk around Manhattan. I’d just read an article about the recently completed Hudson Yards, and I was curious to check it out. The article mentioned how it was basically a gated community for the ultra-wealthy, a place its residents ‘never have to leave,’ and another punch in the face to average New Yorkers in the form of glass towers. When the pandemic hit, the rich would flee, and Hudson Yards became eerily quiet.
I wrote ‘Population’ after that day with my sister. We’re both from the Midwest, but my 15 years in the city have turned me into a proud New Yorker. And what I’ve witnessed is life getting harder and harder for normal, working class people, while the hyper gentrification continues. Hopefully in a post pandemic world, the city can start addressing some of the polarizing wealth inequality. At my lower Manhattan restaurant job, I’m reminded often of how the very wealthy live in a very different city than the rest of us.” By Keegan Williams for New Noise Magazine
Their label Get Better Records, founded in 2009, is an independently owned queer/trans record label located in Philadelphia, PA run by Alex Lichtenauer, Koji and Jenna Pup. They use Get Better as a personal effort to reverse the constant underrepresentation of the queer arts community, with a specific focus on punk, hardcore, and alternative rock music. Get Better's work is meant to extend to those who need it most.
In their 9th week on the chart we are delighted to give Namesake their first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “Population” becoming a #1 Salad🥗Song.
