Sorry for the delay in posting up this week's chart. There've been a few posts made recently that have made me reflect on continuing running this chart (or not)
Time has always been an issue for me but I'm intending to take another week to weigh up whether I still have the motivation for this. Will let you all know.

But I hope I speak for most of us, who put the time and effort to run, compile, & maintain numerous charts or competitions on Haven, we really appreciate what you do and have done to keep this thread going over the years, and hope you continue to do so into the 1990s decade.
As we all have at one time or another felt disheartened when some poster(s) pick holes in what is done with the best of intentions.

You're dedication to the Retro Charts is enormously appreciated by almost everyone who is involved.

Will let you all know. Thanks for the effort put into the charts, it's a lot of faffing and research, so it's always appreciated when people volunteer to do stuff! End of the day, it's just a bit of mutually shared fun though and quite understandable if life takes priority. I'm a full-time carer and I struggle to just do my own charts each week (though 1989 and 1990 are easy as they were done at the time!) never mind juggle points and spreadsheets each week!

I echo what everybody else has said, it's up to you, but please dont be put off by one poster, blocking him was the best thing I ever did, which I know you probably sadly cant do. I also understand the work involved having done the singles combi chart in the past, real life comes first.

Hi, like everyone I have enjoyed contributing to this retro chart for quite a few years like most of you, and we are all disappointed that Kingpin finds himself wanting to stop running this, like most of us I hope he changes his mind and continues. However, if his decision is final and he wishes to stop, I am willing to take on running the chart, as I already have experience running the 70's thread. It will take me a short while to pick up the data, but I could do this in the next week or so, if all of us are willing to contribute going forward. To catch up I will have to post up a couple of charts to catch up. How do you feel about this? Obviously I need Kingpin to confirm he doesn't wish to continue in the first instance. Please let me know what you think? o , Mark , darkstar79 , smokeyb , Whitneyfan , TheThorne , rubcale , popchartfreak , raliverpool , Shireblogger coolchristie2 Smurfie Earl Purple Kingpin .

I think everyone would be delighted smokeyb. This is my favourite thread. I just wouldn't have the know how to be able to cope with it - it seems an awful lot of work when you are doing the 70s as well. If this had discontinued I would have switched to the Retro Combined Chart although that would be harder as I would know fewer of the records, at least in the first half of the decade. I just can't cope with both. Kingpin has done a truly magnificent job for many years but you can understand why he might wish to give it up.

Thank you smokeyb - yes, please keep this one going. I really enjoy this thread every week - would be a shame to stop now, but also understand the reasons why Kingpin might not want to continue doing the excellent job he is doing. Contests, rates, and compiling takes a lot of personal time, so I can fully appreciate the effort that is put in.

Yes, I'd be more than happy for it to continue, and totally appreciate anybody who is willing to take on the huge commitment to compiling the chart each week.
Kingpin did a fantastic job over the years, and the amount of work involved should be applauded. If he is feeling disheartened because of one poster's negative comments then that is a real shame.

I concur with all of the above. Kingpin has done a fantastic job, and it would be great if he felt able to continue. But if not, your offer smokeyb is very welcome. Either way, I'll be fully supportive.

I concur what others have said. If I did not have the Haven Combi Album chart to compile on a weekly basis, then I would have offered myself so I hope it is not too much for smokeyb to take over.

If smokeyb is able to manage it as well as the 1972 combi-chart. That one has fewer contributors so is probably easier to do, but I guess he has the spreadsheets set up. We were a week ahead so the fact we missed a week only catches up to where we should have been anyway. Thank you Kingpin for running it for a number of years.
