Welcome to Frank Edwin's 1/2/2022 Salad Bar🥗Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 150 songs waiting to debut on the chart. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the buffet we are delighted to give 6 songs each week the special designation of #1 Salad🥗Song.
#1 Salad🥗Song: David Rees - Me gusta un chico
“This ukulele-playing, Spanish-born folk-pop star of British heritage built a following of millions on video streaming services during the late 2010s.
A few days before releasing his new single, David Rees wrote several tweets, explaining that the new song would mean the end of an era for him. He claimed to have written one of his most sincere songs and for that reason, he felt quite nervous and with the occasional "butterfly in his stomach."
Finally, David Rees launched one of his most personal themes: I like a boy. He wrote it to the first boy who liked it and he talks about free love and not understanding why you like a boy has to be different, if in the end it all comes down to love. And as the song says, it is not something “revolutionary, nor extraordinary”, but the environment in which you grow up plants you with demons that are difficult to cast out, that's why until now I had not dared to tell it.
With this theme he feels free and finally more himself than ever. "I felt like I needed to take the step of telling it because I didn't feel like avoiding it." This single is accompanied by a video clip in which we can see David himself with the actor Julio de la Rubia, starring in a beautiful love story between two teenagers. At the end of the video clip you can read "for all the stolen teens." Written by María Peinado Lafuente for 22 Minutos Con - translated by Google
It is a pleasure to present David with his first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “Me gusta un chico” being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 11th week on the chart.

Ms. Mya Byrne, songwriter, performer, activist, multi-instrumentalist, and proud transgender woman, has been taking us to "Where The Lavender Grows" for 10 weeks now. We are delighted to find it at the top of the buffet giving it the distinction of a #1 Salad🥗Song.
Mya shares, “I’m quite enamored of this song. Backstory: I’m in NYC right now, at a friend’s place. Uncommon for me, this song started with the little riff I first played on that guitar (belonging to my pal Bev Grant, and with a long history of its own!) on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning, I had a conversation with my buddy Kurt about essential oils, and about a show he was seeing the next day at Stonewall Inn.
I got the chord progression an hour or two later, and half the chorus, consciously knowing I had just talked about lavender (the oil). I sketched the lyric out over the next couple of hours, and made a quick demo for my songwriting workshop.
My friend Mark Aaron James loved the song, and told me he was impressed at how I’d woven queer themes into my lyric. I was like, “Wha?” He laughed and pointed out the imagery I’d used...the lavender, the stone wall, coming through a narrow place of uncertainty... how indeed they were those themes. I love the way my brain works!
Fun fact: I recorded this in a space that used to be the Decca recording studio, where “Rock Around the Clock” and Buddy Holly’s last sessions took place! It became an apartment in the 80s, but the magic and sound are still there.”

myabyrne.bandcamp.com#1 Salad🥗Song: Errante - Nuotando Nelle Note
“I am a Wanderer. For Music”
“Welcome to my music project. To escape from the past hard months, to continue traveling. And because making mistakes is sometimes cool, it frees you from the burden of perfection.
My songs are stories.
“Nuotando Nelle Note” is a song for dreamers. When I wrote it I dreamed that music and the sea - my great passions - would merge into one. I imagined getting lost in a sea of music: the notes are the inhabitants of the sea, I am an explorer free to roam inside, to invent new melodies, sounds and rhythms all of my own. The “None” are the musical intervals that inspire me the most: they are ethereal, they open up to boundless spaces, they make you dream ...
Because “NNN” becomes a hymn to make your dreams come true, overcoming every obstacle (often internal) ...”
We welcome Errante from Italy to our table of multiplicity and this week we are delighted to give him his first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “Nuotando Nelle Note” becoming a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 11th week on the chart.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Tom Heath · Leave A Light
Tom Heath is an up-and-coming pop storyteller, singing songs about dating, anxiety, dating-induced- anxiety, growing up and the reluctance to do so.
He joined the music buffet for the first time 10 weeks ago with an emotional story about LGBT+ allyship, found in an unexpected place… ‘Leave a Light’ has been the product of many lockdown recording sessions over the year. It brings us the story of a boy struggling to come out as gay, finding the support to do so from his nan. It tells a universal story of the simple power of love…"
It is a pleasure to present Tom with our Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “Leave A Light ” being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Johnny Pontiac - Charlie
“Hi, I'm Johnny.
I'm a queer musician from the deep south.
Let's make some music.”
Johnny Pontiac’s songs are reminiscent of growing up in southwest Georgia and his time spent in the open spaces of the Midwest and the Southwest. His lyrics meander through queer experiences in rural America and are set against a musical background of folk, country, rock, and ambient sounds.
It is a joy to place a cherry tomato on top of “Charlie” from his album “Little Ghost Towns” awarding it the special designation as a #1 Salad🥗Song.

We are pleased to welcome the artistry of Desert Flaggers back to the pinnacle of the Salad Bar🥗Top 100. One of our goals at the Salad🥗Bar is to bring to the table a diversity of expression through music. Desert Flaggers is a social organization of those in the Coachella Valley, California, USA interested in the artistry of flow flags, poi, or fans. The Flaggers are performing to the Moto Blanco Remix of "Gold Forever " by The Wanted. They share in the video description:
"March 2020 and suddenly we were told to stay home and isolate - for our lives. After canceling April’s Flagging in the Desert event, flaggers were asked to join us in creating a compilation video where we could still come together while isolated. Twenty-three flaggers submitted clips and our first video ‘You’re Beautiful’ went live on March 27 of last year. Through the ensuing trials and loneliness, we found ways to stay connected – through Facebook, through Flagging Virtual Studio, and through our unifying videos each month.
Here we are seventeen + months later. We’ve made new connections, learned new movements, and shared a flowing, musical journey safely and together. We’re no longer isolated flaggers, but now carefully moving out into the world together again. It’s time to leave these videos as ‘Gold Forever’...
This shared celebration of music happened thanks to one hundred gorgeous flaggers and the gifted seven DJs who made it possible."
