9 LOADSAMONEY (DOIN' UP THE HOUSE) - Harry Enfield
Love Harry Enfield, never much of a fan of Loadsamoney, he was funny for a while but by the time this song came out that time had long past, and this song was unbearable. But yeh agree with the sentiments and the targets of course

8 I Quit - Bros
More Bros hate sorry but I still say they had a couple of good singles and at least they were a real band or were they?

20 Cat Among the Pigeons - Bros
Similiar to Tiffany, I might have some of the Bros songs in the wrong order, thinking now 'Drop the Boy' is the worst oh well. MUCH worse than Drop The Boy. Those vocals!!

6 Perfect - Fairground Attraction
Actually forget what I said earlier, my hate for this song is not completely just due to chart placing and fandom etc, I tried to play this like I do every song and I had to stop it after 2 seconds where I last almost 2 minutes with AA. That has to tell you something, I just cant stand her vocal on this, its like nails on a blackboard to me.

5 Till I Loved You (feat. Don Johnson) - Barbra Streisand, Don Johnson
Good grief, Barbra I know love makes you do strange things but sometimes you have to draw a line. Meatloaf knew this RIP. . This should never have been allowed to happen and I shouldnt be reminding anyone that it did. I am not a talented critic enough to describe how awful this is.

3 Especially for You - Jason Donovan, Kylie Minogue
Maybe a bit harsh, this was actually a number one in my chart in 1988, yes I was totally bought in lol. yeh no this isnt right, this should maybe be a bit lower down. But Jason is awful, Kylie is fine, the song is now total cringe. Ok make it #10

2 Let's All Chant - Pat And Mick
Another Pat & Mick horror and a terrible cover off a good disco record. Just make them stop, who keeps buying these!!

Oh I love 'Teardrops', one of the first songs I ever remember hearing (my parents had it on a compilation tape they used to play a lot when I was around 3/4 years old, I guess only a couple of years after this song came out!)
Also don't have a problem with 'Perfect' though it gets more annoying the more you hear it.
'Mistletoe and Wine' though, ugh, fully support the inclusion of that one!

Didnt see this coming but I can't see an argument. well one..
My Worst Hit Song of 1988
Liverpool F.C. - Anfield Rap
They are my team weill my English team but I still feel shame for maybe the worst football song ever. I know its an easy target making this number one but I just cant put anything above it, it just wouldnt be fair.
OMG that 'Macca Can' line....agony
But I can listen to this but not 'Perfect' what does that say???

I thought your English team is Norwich City? Or you just seek glory?
I hated Liverpool, they were winning everything and got all the refereeing decisions in their favour to help them and the big teams still do much of the time - ok they were shafted in the decisions against Spurs but much that I hate Palace even I know that wasn't a penalty although Liverpool were already winning anyway.
I pretty much hate any team that wins everything, and hate the monopoly at the top and yeah I like Leicester City, although they're not my team as such, a shame they keep bottling it now...
It sounded like Bros's cat that was among the pigeons was being strangled as it sang that..

I have supported Liverpool as my English team since King Kenny. Aberdeen were my Scottish team.

7 Suddenly - Angry Anderson
Now you know I love a power ballad way more than the next man but sometimes only sometimes there would be one that I couldnt listen to with a straight face. This song is hilarous for all the wrong reasons. A punk rocker makes a ballad that would be too wet for Peter Cetera. And i guess that odd status was what made the song stand out and yes it worked in Neighbours, just the kind of music youd imagine Scott lsitening to. I get out the way: 1. I'm a Liverpool fan but I agree with their #1 ranking. 2. I think 1988 was easily the worst year of the decade for popular/chart music. 3. I totally disagree with Womack & Womack; & Fairground Attraction being on the list. (However, I can see from the folky corny/tweeness of "Perfect" why it is in the same way a couple of decades later Sandi Thom "I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker" has the same impact. Funnily enough, both songs were huge long running chart toppers in Australia & New Zealand). 4. "Matt & Luke make me puke". So I'm pleased you gave them the musical kicking they deserved.
5. Angry Anderson - Suddenly is not hilarious. In fact it is the very opposite:
(Not the PDC Darts legend) Gary Anderson had been the lead vocalist with the hard rock band Rose Tattoo since 1976. The Aussie rockers had 11 hits in Australia between 1977-87. He also appeared as the character Ironbar Bassey in the 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Angry wrote this love song after his wife (who stars in the video) got diagnosed with breast cancer; and the genuine emotion & fear he had about losing the one he loved, and having to be bring up his young children without their mum. The track had already peaked at Australia #2 in 1987 (ironically behind the best selling single of the decade in Australia Kylie Minogue's pre SAW version of "The Locomotion") prior to its use in the Neighbours wedding. Alas his wife passed away, and he became a national treasure in the way he brought up their 4 young children.
In addition Angry is the only surviving member of the original (1976-86 line up) hard rock band Rose Tattoo. All the other previous members succumbed to cancer between 1991 & 2009.
Hence, why when Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, Australia took a sharp intake of breath....
Therefore, why you might be right to argue the song is terrible, it is certainly not hilarious.

Not funny haha hilarious, maybe ridiculous OTT would be better words. But that’s another strike for a personal song that I didn’t know the message behind. I honestly thought he was asked to do it see my rule of not googling backfires again

Right 1989, everything in the top 50 is a 4 or less, actually everything in the top 100 is a 5 or less so overall this is the worst list yet as maybe expected. Any other year this would all be higher!!!
50 Hold Me in Your Arms - Rick Astley 49 Love Changes Everything - Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael Ball 48 The Time Warp - Damian 47 Yeah Buddy - Royal House 46 I'm Gonna Miss You - Milli Vanill 45 Bust A Move - Young MC 44 The Real Me - W.A.S.P. 43 Till I Loved You - Plácido Domingo, Jennifer Rush 42 Please Don't Be Scared - Barry Manilow 41 Lambada - Kaoma
Love/hate has to be this
