Welcome to Frank Edwin's 2/20/2022 Salad🥗Bar 101 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The 101 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 150 songs waiting to debut on the chart. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the buffet we are delighted to give 6 songs each week the special designation of #1 Salad🥗Song.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Alexandra Hamer - The Love of Tired Swans (Dimash cover)
It is a joy to place a cherry tomato on top of Alexandra Hamer’s Dimash cover “The Love of Tired Swans” giving it the special designation as a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 11th week on the chart.
Alexandra describes herself as, "a trans woman singing in defiance of a broken voice," and shares, "Covering a Dimash song is a pretty stupid thing to do, right? But here's the thing:
I am a dear, and Dimash has been a huge inspiration to me. He made me question everything about what a human voice can do, and that made me wonder if maybe I hadn't even come close to my limits yet. So, I started to experiment with different techniques and I practised and practised and practised, and after a few months, I had increased my range by more than half an octave and could make sounds I had never made before - some of them were even quite nice!
So this cover is my thank you to Dimash - a year ago, I couldn't even have attempted this song, and even if my version is not very good, I absolutely loved singing it. I used the lyrics from the Lara Fabian version of the bridge instead of Dimash's soprano version because Lara's version can actually be sung by a human being! Lara Fabian is another truly extraordinary singer. I do not speak Russian, so please forgive my accent."
Alexandra is also the author of “To Be A Girl: A transgender girl's breathtaking fight to survive as herself in Victorian England” which is described by Alexandra as, "a book that a trans person could really relate to, or that would help a cis person understand what it means to be trans."

"FRAY" is a song about the struggle and desire for connection/belonging while navigating trauma and grief.
Previous #1 Salad🥗Song chef Dillbilly (they/them) is a Genre queer song maker based in Ohio who writes soulful countryfied rock, mournful resonant ballads, and Rust Belt bluegrass that join hands and waltz around the bonfire. Crafting songs laden with lyrics that investigate gender, queerness, class, privilege, and shame, all while taking a deep dive into the complexity and responsibility of being a white working-class queer from a red state. Winding tenderly through these introspective tales is an elegant voice that warbles like a jay, world-weary and vulnerable, yet glowing gently with a palpable inner strength.
Dillbilly realeased the video of “Fray” In honor of #TransAwarenessWeek and we are happy to present Dillbilly with her 2nd Salad🥗Bowl as “Fray becomes a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 10th week on the chart.

“One day I woke up puzzled…”
Gray Crosbie is a queer writer and spoken word poet based in Glasgow. They perform regularly at poetry and cabaret nights around Scotland and have been published widely throughout the UK. Their writing explores themes such as queer issues, mental health and relationships.
We appreciate having the opportunity to share various forms of artistic expression at the Salad🥗Bar 101. "Rubik's Cubed" explores the twists and turns life can take when suffering from depression, and how solving it can seem an impossible problem. Film by Sarah Grant.
We are tickled the colors of the Rubik’s Cube to give Gray Crosbie our Salad🥗Bowl and the distinction of #1 Spoken Word Salad🥗Chef.

Keanan’s song, “Obstacle”, sees the artist reflect on coming to terms with his sexuality as he first tried to break into rap music.
Keanan tells GAY TIMES: “Obstacle” really is the embodiment of my journey in terms of coming to terms with myself, my music and what it takes to be an artist.
“From the structure to the lyrics, the simplistic piano over such an aggressive beat and flow represents that we as humans are often good at seeming ‘fine’ on the surface but we are all faced with our own individual obstacles.”
We welcome Keanan to the apex of the 101 in his 10th week on the chart as “Obstacle” garners him is first #1 Salad🥗Song.

The 101: Jeffery Straker - Somewhere Between
The 101 at the Salad🥗Bar is our new luscious niche in time dedicated to the memory of Joshua Bluegreen-Cripps who friends shared loved everyone, celebrated everyone, and was always thinking of ways to bring people together with music.
Each week the Buffet🥗Mobile will take us to The 101 where a song that has special meaning or memories for Salad🥗Bar curator Frank Edwin will be found. As we celebrate Jeffery Straker’s return to the buffet with “Rock, Paper, Scissors”, we wanted to feature the song that first introduced us to his music. Here’s his poignant and touching “Somewhere Between” from the 2008 album “Step Right Up.”
