The other day being somewhat sleep deprived I registered on this forum without really checking it out. It was only *AFTER* I had joined up that I noticed the *UK* part on this forums name. Being from British Columbia, Canada there is a 7 hour time difference between me and you. This means that when I post in the morning, most of you will be at work. When I post in the afternoon, most of you will be asleep. This means that I will be talking to myself. (not the first time by any means)
But I've gone and done it so it's too late now. For what it's worth I'm half British as my mother was from York.(war bride) And I have been to York.

Well thanks all, it's nice to know that when I do make a post or two, that I won't have to wait until the next day for a response. Anyway it's not even 9 a.m. here so it's off to the shower, have breakfast, then I'll have to shovel my driveway and brush the snow off of my vehicles. (no garage) Nice to be here.

Welcome, Bulldog. We have a few late night lurkers on this side of the Atlantic so there's often someone about.

Welcome aboard, we are a pretty multicultural bunch and we have a few night owls so this place is usually pretty active all day

How did you find our forums? I was bored and decided to check out the ProBoard directory. The word "haven" has a nice vibe to it, so I checked it out and here I am. As to snow, check out my thread on the Gubbins section that I posted. It has to do with where I live. After reading it you'll know that we have lots of snow up here. P.S. What does Gubbins mean?

Well here it is 9:36 p.m. my time and guess what? I am the *only* member online. And that is because as I suspected everyone on this forum is asleep. Well, at least there are 20 guests so I'm not completely alone. lol

Welcome I am in the UK as well although also a night owl! I am a little envious of your snow as we didn't have any down here in the south-west of England this winter. Would love to visit Canada one day - I have extended family there but have never been, sadly. I like your York connection, I went to university there One of my favourite places.

Welcome I like your York connection, I went to university there One of my favourite places. My mother was from Crombie Avenue close to the big Rowntree factory. I visited there as a small child. I can still remember going on a double decker bus, watching a big black steam locomotive coming into the station, and riding on my uncle Lenny's lap on his Triumph motorcycle. And oh yes, let's not forget York Minster Cathedral.

Thanks for the welcome , are you on Mountain standard time by any chance? Texas CST I love that Texan accent, (y'all) we get a lot of Texan tourists up here. The waitresses here claim that the Texans along with the Germans are the best tippers. One thing I've picked up on talking to the Texans, is that they are very friendly and down to earth.

Another fan of York here, but I am in Yorkshire, so I'm biased. My mother came to Canada in 1946 after marrying my father who was stationed in York during the war. He was a mechanic for Lancaster bombers with the Canadian Air Force. Right until the day she passed away, my mother kept her Yorkie accent.." 'Ello luv ".
