#1 Salad🥗Song: Della Mae - Heart of My Home
“I had forgotten what springtime was like in the darkness
and so did all the flowers in their loam
but when the frost sheds its pearls and the snowdrops unfurl
I feel the sun and it reminds me that I’m home”
We have been enjoying “Heart of My Home” by Della Mae for 10 weeks now at the 101 buffet and it’s a pleasure to present them with their first Sala🥗 Bowl as they become #1 Salad🥗Song Chefs. The GRAMMY-nominated, all-women string band is made up of founder and fiddle player Kimber Ludiker, lead vocalist/guitarist Celia Woodsmith, guitarist Avril Smith, bassist Vickie Vaughn, and mandolinist Maddie Witler.
Their mission as a band is to showcase top female musicians, and to improve opportunities for women and girls through advocacy, mentorship, programming, and performance.
Della Mae is committed to the safety and success of women and girls in the music community and beyond. They share, "through our travels around the world, we have been touched and inspired by women and girls in countless cultures."
"Over the years we have faced our own challenges as an all-female group in a male-dominated genre and industry. Innumerable fans and colleagues have approached us to tell their stories. We want all of those women to know that…
we hear you, we support you and we believe you."

“Keep Your Heart Open
When it wants to shut down
Dare to find a little joy

And Keep your heart
Open to Hope, open to love”

twitter.com/benifahr#1 Salad🥗Song: JÓRMA - introvert
the Coronavirus pandemic may have proven to be a bit of a downer on the music industry, forcing the cancellation of not just festivals and live music around the world but forcing some artists to push back release dates. For musician and composer Jonathan Bonny however it has proven to be the opportune time for musical re invention with the creation of their new alter ego JÓRMA and the release of their...single ‘introvert’. From Musicforthemisfits.com
JÓRMA shares, “introvert is a personal reflection on what it means to (visibly) belong to a minority or marginalised group. With this release I dive deeper into the process of public (un)learning, with a strong focus on representation within the work
How much of your story is told by your queerness, race, religion, body type or (dis)ability? And to what extent do you want that to be part of your identity? What are the consequences of being judged by the cover and what role does privilege play? ”
It is a pleasure to present JÓRMA with his first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “introvert“ being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 10th week on the chart.

jormamusic.bandcamp.com/releases#1 Salad🥗Series: RYTMIKAALI by Vasile Baghiuc
It is a joy to welcome Romanian-Norwegian artist Vasile Baghiuc back to the pinnacle of the Salad🥗Bar 101 as his music and art series “RYTMIKAALI” goes to #1 in its 9th week on the chart.
Vasile took music lessons as a child in Romania, worked as a trombone and brass teacher, conductor and composer in the far north of Norway, and now ventures into his own career as an artist.
In October of last year Vasile began putting out daily snippets of a new musical piece featuring experiments he was doing with melodic, ostinati, and rhythmic patterns inspired by folklore music. It turned into a series of 8 pieces. For the videos he utilized his personal artwork.

The 101: Pet Shop Boys - Metamorphosis
The 101 Flashback at the Salad🥗Bar is our niche in time dedicated to the memory of Joshua Bluegreen-Cripps who loved everyone, celebrated everyone, and was always thinking of ways to bring people together with music. The goal of the Salad🥗Bar is also to bring a diversity of people together with music and each week the BuffetMobile will take us to The 101 where artists and songs that have special meaning or memories for Salad🥗Bar curator Frank Edwin will be found and shared.
This week the BuffetMobile takes us to 1996 for “Metamorphosis” from Pet Shop Boys.
Neil had hinted at and obliquely alluded to his gayness throughout his musical career, but now the coyness was over. If 1991's "Was It Worth It?" was his "virtual" coming-out song, stating the case clearly enough for anyone willing to hear it, 1996's "Metamorphosis" was the "official" version, restating it in such a way that nobody, but nobody, could miss or deny it no matter how much they might want to. It's a fast, almost frenetic "gay rap" number, pure and simple, in which Neil describes how his true sexual orientation gradually dawned on him and, despite his resistance against it, he finally "gave in" so that he might achieve personal satisfaction and happiness. He likens this transformation to biological metamorphosis: "Once a caterpillar, now a butterfly."
The instrumental origins of this track lay in a piece that a couple of the Boys' former backup dancers and rappers had been working on with them but abandoned. Neil and Chris thoroughly reworked it with the help of the K-klass production team of Andy Williams and Paul Roberts. By Wayne Studer for his blog Commentary
