Welcome to Frank Edwin's 5/8/2022 Salad🥗Bar 101 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
The 101 has just a small sampling of LGBTQ+ artists and allies worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources.
There are currently over 150 songs waiting to debut on the chart. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the buffet we have created The 10 at the 101 where the number of #1 Salad🥗Songs has been extended to 10 each week.
#1 Salad🥗Song: Fancy Hagood & Devon Gilfillian - Let Me Be

But you're not alone"

www.instagram.com/la.reine.g/#1 Salad🥗Song: Alex the Astronaut - Octopus
Another #1 Salad🥗Song Chef returns to the pinnacle of the 101 buffet. Two years on from her debut album, Alex The Astronaut is releasing her second, How To Grow A Sunflower Underwater, and shared 'Octopus', a…song that reflects on her recent Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.
"I was really worried that people would think I was different and wouldn't know how to be my friend," Alex told triple j. "It took me a while to get to the point where I understood that lots of the things that I'm good at started with ASD, and make me special in a way - if that's not too cheesy."
So where does the octopus come in? Well, turns out they're kind of ocean geniuses, capable of changing colour to blend in, regrow tentacles, and decorate their homes with shells.
"Being in lockdown I was always going snorkelling to have an activity to do and got introduced to this wonderful underwater world. And octopods were a good way to comprehend what was going on in my own life," Alex explains. "I saw these special skills they have that makes them amazing. Maybe we can all help each other with these special skills and make the world a better place."
'Octopus' comes alongside an animated video that "is so cute it should be illegal," says Alex. "It made my manager cry." By Al Newstead for triplej
Alex also shared, “A group of octopus can be called octopuses, octopi, or octopods. I like octopods the best. Octopods can change colour to blend in with their surroundings, regrow limbs, and decorate their houses with shells. They are amazing geniuses that live amongst us. Growing up we learn that only people that show a certain set of skills can be called clever, or valuable to society. When I was diagnosed with ASD last year I was worried people would look at me funny and think that I don’t fit when they found out, which they do sometimes but I learnt that we all have a different set of superpowers, like our friends the octopods. All of us need a little help from our friends sometimes and all of us have a superpower that could help the world grow. If we stopped worrying about how much everyone does or doesn’t fit I think we’d all be braver, more curious and much kinder.”

#1 Salad🥗Song: Griffin Matthews, Ledisi, Emma Hunton, Cast of Witness Uganda - Be the Light
We are honoured to present the cast of Witness Uganda with our Salad🥗Bowl as “Be the Light” becomes a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 9th week on the chart.
"The emotionally-charged ballad features vocals by GRAMMY Award-winning R&B songstress Ledisi alongside Griffin Matthews, Emma Hunton, and the Witness Uganda ensemble to create vocal fireworks that are both vulnerable yet fiercely resilient.
Of the song and video, Matt Gould says: "Witness Uganda is about a group of outsiders who come together to forge a place in which they belong. So, as we started to conceptualize the 'Be The Light' video, we wanted to not only highlight the literal story of Witness Uganda, but also to zoom out and try to capture stories of other queer artists in their search for belonging. 'Be The Light' is meant to be an aspirational 'prayer' that one day our houses of worship and communities might be as welcoming to all people as their scriptures profess. Our goal with this video was to capture that hope that someday we might all be welcomed into the places that have shunned us; that one day we might all feel like we are enough."…
Witness Uganda documents Griffin's journey on a volunteer mission to Uganda, during which he builds an unlikely bond with a ragtag group of teenage students. When home doesn't feel like home, and any family connections must be forged, Griffin and the students discover community where they least expect it." by Chloe Rabinowitz for Broadway World

#1 Salad🥗Song: Fab The Duo - Somewhere In Delaware
Talk about a power couple! Meet Fab The Duo! This interracial power couple based in LA serves Rock music with a side of Philanthropy. Their spunky yet glamorous aesthetic is worthy of admiration... Both Greg Driscoll and Brendan Eprile are outspoken body positivity, LGBTQ+, and gender expression advocates, and they make that prominent in their musical abilities and fundraising work…
Can you tell us a little bit about the song “Somewhere in Delaware”? What inspired this song?
The song was actually inspired by a trip we had to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware over the summer of 2020. We both had such wildly different experiences on that trip and the duality of the song was inspired by that (as well as hearing the huge change in Billie Eillish’s hit “Happier Than Ever”, which we’re obsessed with.) by SAMANTHA COLÓN for Jejune Magazine - Complete interview:

#1 Salad🥗Song: Moira Smiley and Tonality - Treat A Stranger Right
“Ev'rybody oughta treat a stranger right
when they're a long way from home..
Be mindful how you're speaking
Be careful how you go along
You must always treat a stranger right, don't insult him in your home…
Well all of us are strangers,
and we don't always know what's home.
You must never hurt your brother or sister
and cause them to pull their own.”
It is a joy to present Moira Smiley and members of Tonality with our Salad🥗Bowl and place a cherry tomato on top of “Treat A Stranger Right” awarding it the special designation as a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 6th week on the chart.
Written by Blind Willie Johnson (1897 - 1945) and originally recorded with Willie B. Harris (April 20, 1930, Atlanta, GA). This adaptation is rooted in Sidney Hemphill Carter rendition, which changed Johnson’s melody but kept the essential text. Hemphill-Carter sang a melody similar to the soprano part in this arrangement. She gave weight and depth to this perfect expression of our innate reliance upon and responsibility to each other.

For the past 7 weeks Finn Anderson has given our buffet bounty from 'The Garden' live from Chamber Studio and is a pleasure to present him with his first Salad🥗Bowl in honour of the song being given the special designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song.
A composer, writer and singer-songwriter, Finn has co-created four award-nominated musicals, released two albums, and collaborated with leading theatre companies, venues, artists and musicians throughout the UK and internationally…As a writer and theatre-maker, Finn has co-created several musicals, consistently tackling complex themes and ambitious fusions of musical styles…
As a singer-songwriter, Finn released his second album Into the Arms of Ghosts in October 2021; a collection of songs that move freely from the soft and intimate to the bold and dramatic, strung together by sensitive and striking lyrics that go straight for the heart. He has toured and performed throughout the UK, including regular performances with ‘Bogha-frois: Queer Voices in Folk’, a community of musicians and songwriters working to integrate LGBTQ+ stories into the Scottish folk tradition.
Finn shares his inspiration behind “The Garden”, “Sometimes growth happens quietly and slowly, in the shadows, underground, out of sight. I wrote this song after a period of hibernation, at a moment when I finally felt ready to emerge and offer up my heart to something new.
That moment coincided with an abundant autumn harvest from my parents' garden, and so this song became a celebration of growth, new love and harvest - in a natural and organic sense, and in an emotional sense too.”

finnanderson.co.uk/#1 Salad🥗Song: thekayetan & Reni Jusis - Pole widzenia
thekayetan - a young representative of rainbow artists and a representative of the My Name Is New initiative , signed by Kayax, which has just debuted with the album Dla Nas Dom, full of club energy. While working on his latest single - "Pole widzenia (Field of View)", the artist fulfilled his huge musical dream - he invited his great artistic inspiration to perform this song together, Reni Jusis - an icon of the LGBTQ + community in Poland.
"Pole widzenia" encourages people to stick to their own values, despite many unfavorable factors. The voice of Renia Jusis, my musical idol, with whom I have always wanted to create something beautiful, resounds in it. The field of view was dropped into a drawer by accident and ended up being one of the most important songs in my life
Reni Jusis, on the other hand, recalls our collaboration with the work Field of vision in this way:
Musically honoring the Equality Parade and Pride Month has become my annual tradition. Last year, through the Music 4 Queers & Queens compilation, this year I gave myself to a young, debuting producer and singer, which resulted in a completely new composition. thekayetan is an extraordinary Man, I am impressed by his multidisciplinary work. By Weronika Szymańska for Rytmy.pl
It is a pleasure to present them with our Salad🥗Bowl in honour of “Pole widzenia” being given the designation of a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 8th week on the chart.

www.renijusis.pl/#1 Salad🥗Song: alex - Confrontations
“…when push came to shove
I hid who I was Under lock and key
I built a whole man I didn't understand
And people called him me
… And now my life is a series of confrontations
Between my traits and the ones I was fakin
On my search for who I was meant to be”
The Randy Report: What was the inspiration behind “Confrontations?”
alex: I wrote “Confrontations” about growing up closeted and having to differentiate between which parts of me are authentic and which parts I created in order to keep my secret when I was younger. In an attempt to stay closeted, I not only hid parts of me, but I pretended to like certain things and act a certain way.
I’ve come to learn that this is an all-too-common experience for LGBT+ people. “Confrontations” is a raw look at sorting through different parts of yourself as you search for the most authentic version of yourself. Complete interview:

" ... Rise and shine, look on tomorrow... Because, no matter what, looking into the future is more important than looking into the past! Life is full of surprises, it's only up to us to seize the chance to make every moment the most beautiful moment of a day, a week, a life...The sun is still shining... and when we don't see it, he leaves room for the stars..."
It’s a delight introducing you to the artistes and their luscious chefs-d'œuvre at pinnacle of the Salad🥗Bar 101. We present Alexandre Godfroid with his 1st Salad🥗Bowl as “Aujourd'hui, ailleurs” becomes a #1 Salad🥗Song in its 8th week on the chart.
Alexandre shares, “I'm caught between so many different emotions, excitement, joy, supreme bliss and fear… It's never easy to indulge without glitz or pageantry, to dare to express who we are inside , what life has led us to experience, to confide in our pains, our doubts, our hopes…
But, thanks to the strength and the exemplary courage of my husband, Benoit, I found the strength and the courage to put down the armor, to remove this shell and to be me, simply me in all simplicity and authenticity...”
