Rockstar by Nickelback - I don’t know much about the band themselves but this track is very catchy, the lyrics are very funny and I love the ambiguity around how much of it he really means. It’s like they were taking the p*ss out of the people who take the p*ss out of them by over-embracing the rock cliche lifestyle, which in a 4 minute pop song is very clever.
I’ve also always loved Mull Of Kintyre. I know that winds people up for all sorts of reasons but I love the singalong element, love the bagpipes, and love the fact it’s a celebration of an actual real place.

Does anyone really hate You Don't Bring Me Flowers? Always thought it was widely considered one of the best duets ever.

I don't dislike it, but if someone asked me to introduce them to the music of Paul McCartney who had either never heard anything of his, or never heard anything he'd done outside the Beatles, I wouldn't pick this song or the Frog song. I'd probably pick "Live And Let Die" as his most classic, followed by "Band On The Run" and for something lighter "Another Day" or "Let 'Em In". Maybe even "Take Me Away". In spite of its critics "Pipes Of Peace" is also a consideration.

Firm's 'Star Trekkin' to my list of great novelty songs! Dutch language cover version of this song, peaked at # 2 in my chart for two consecutive weeks.

Rockstar's a good call, SheriffFatman . I'm not their biggest fan by a long chalk but am with you on this. My contributions: - Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling. Sure, the lyrics are dumb ("Monday, Tuesday...") but it stands the test of time as a top-notch feelgood party song
- Kelly Marie - Feels Like I'm In Love. Ask me to name my all-time 'guilty pleasure' and this would be it.
- Icona Pop - I Love It. The song that gives this thread its title. I've never heard anything else quite like it and probably never will. Probably one of the most divisive #1s of all time, but...

Moving away from #1s, I'll go for this given how dismally it flops in Haven competitions compared to my perception of how good a track it is:

I know some people still hate them, but I think Stock, Aiken and Waterman produced a lot of really, really good pop records which have stood the test of time.

There are not many Stock Aitken & Waterman songs I don’t like. I have listened to at least six today.

Does anyone really hate You Don't Bring Me Flowers? Always thought it was widely considered one of the best duets ever. I love it. The late 70s early 80s Barbra songs are the best for me. Guilty is one of my favourite albums.

I don't mind 'I'd rather jack', despite being a massive Fleetwood Mac fan. They're still going strong anyway so what do the lyrics really matter?

I like I’d Rather Jack and Fleetwood Mac as well! Maybe not Rolling Stones so much. Or Yazz.

Everybody's Free To Wear Sunscreen by Baz Luhrman. A laid back, chilled out summery vibe and some good advice, what's so bad about that? To hear some people talk you'd think it was a war crime.

Dollar are rightly regarded as lightweight, fluffy, throwaway pop that barely touches the sides.
But in 1981 they took a gamble by recruiting Trevor Horn to work with them on four tracks; they could not afford any more.
And one of the results was as good a pop song as you will ever wish to hear.

Considered by many to be one of the most pretentious songs every written, but I really do just love it
