The FA have announced England will play the USA at Wembley in October, as long as the Lionesses pick up the point they need to secure World Cup qualification in September.

I think our future problem could be upfront as assume Ellen White is near the end of her career? And for all Russo's goals, today showed she cant start a game and chase defenders down, that isn't her game, then again we have the midfield and wingers to be scoring the goals I guess? What exactly did Popp do in the warm up to injure herself, think they would have been a different team with her up front. I hope the Brazil England game will be on the BBC as well, but more likely Sky? I don't understand your point about Russo. She didn't start the game. I think his point was the playing style of both players. White plays as a #9 but Russo more a #10 player?

I hope the Brazil England game will be on the BBC as well, but more likely Sky? I don't understand your point about Russo. She didn't start the game. ITV currently have the rights to England's non-tournament matches but I don't know if the game against Brazil would be covered by that. I assume BBC will have the rights to the World Cup next year. My point was she came on in the 55th 60th minute and looked knackered after about 15 minutes of chasing the ball down. If she can learn to hold the ball up better and then they get other players up around her, then it will work. Obviously it went into extra time, and again she was ineffectual, because she was knackered, so she cant start games, so who else do we have, because I didn't see her use any other strikers? Like I say, not a problem when the midfield score plenty of goal, and I'm sure Ellen White is far from finished as well. The Spanish game highlighted our problem, and we were very lucky in that game. And obviously all the pressure of being Euro Champions and all that comes with it. We will see how things go in the next year.

Funny thing is, I only know one other person who was watching it, when it's the men's you know everybody's watching it, apart from my Scots mates! So I'd take those viewing figures with a pinch of salt. Sadly when the Womens Super Premier League starts up again, the crowds will be back to the average of 1500-2000, and only bigger for local derbies. It's just the way it is, "supporters" of these clubs haven't got the affinity we have, because a lot of these clubs haven't been around very long. They've been created for the TV and Super League, and come with no fans We'll see about that. Arsenal season tickets have sold out already, and I've heard that Brighton had significantly higher ticket sales. For the first time, I went to more women's matches than I did men's matches least season, partly due to price and partly noise - my eldest is autistic and struggled in the family enclosure due to the noise (there was a big drum about 15 rows behind us which didn't help). I'll try taking him again this autumn.

England up to 4th in the latest FIFA women's rankings, behind USA, Germany and Sweden. FIFA uses an Elo-based system for the women's rankings and as time goes by, I become less and less convinced that Elo is the best methodology for ranking international football teams.
