On first listen this sounds incredibly dull.

Yeah the drummer said it's a continuation of the previous album But can I just say how absolutely awesome they were at Reading/Leeds, I only got the 1hr highlights of the 2hr show, but it was stunningly brilliant!

Not a fan of this particularly. It's always good to hear bands trying new things but this direction isn't for me.

I'm out of line with the general consensus as usual because I love it.

I wouldn't even say this was a new sand to be honest though, could be a leftover from the previous LP - but like Andy says this is a continuation so not surprising. I definitely don't hate this at least. Maybe it's a grower? But doesn't punch like all their signature songs do.

If Burt Bacharach ever wrote a James Bond theme with Richard Hawley, then this would be it.
I love it, just like my favourite album by them Tranquilty Base Hotel & Casino. For the record AM is my least favourite album by the Sheffield indie rockers.

I don't particularly like the Arctic Monkeys at all, and really enjoyed it!

I quite like this. Slightly surprised they've continued with the direction of the last album but I guess that's what getting old does to you.

Based on the three tracks released so far, I'm expecting the best of the last album, with more stand-outs than that offering gave us. Looking forward to this.

I'm going to be a Mardy Bum and say this is absolutely awful. I forced myself to listen to every track all the way through, just in case there was a late surprise, there wasn't. That snare drum must be worn the f*** out by now, two albums with the same slow beat, saying that, it's probably a machine! Could you imagine going to a concert of this? And if you say they wont play them all live, then what's the point of them? I really cant believe who's buying it, it's just background music that goes nowhere. Suck it and see sold 82k in it's opening week and 410k in total, AM sold 157k and 1.6m in total, Tranquility Base 88k and 243k in total. 50k opening and 100k in total for this? Never mind The Car, time for a Taxi for the Arctic Monkeys!

As I listened to this on Spotify it got to the end and then plays another song, usually by the same band, but this time it played Red Smoke by the Reytons, a song I've never heard, but absolutely loved! So thanks Spotify for giving me a good songs after that dirge!

It does sound to me like a B Side album, I dont hate it or the singles but it's at best nice elevator music. 21 songs that merge into one, over half a decade and two albums worth of work. That's the dissapointing thing, they've done what a lot of the best bands do, got bored making great music and decided to dick about experimenting which is fine, over indulgent yes, weird certainly, expecially Alex Turner thinking he is Anerican now, maybe he took a bump to the head but I agree with Andy, the joke isn't funny anymore lads

If he'd have done this as a solo project on the side, it would have died on its arse

Yeah, it would've bombed for sure, the disappointment for me is more AM came out in 2013, so they have spent 9 years coming up with Tranquillity Base and The Car and at the rate of 4 or 5 years between albums these days this is it until 2026 at the earliest so it's not just an experimental phase, it will be 13 years with this and only this and the last 2 albums aren't anything you can repeatedly listen too after an initial, this is interesting or different. I haven't listened to Tranquillity Base since 2018 and only 1 and a half songs on it have any replay value, so it would've been nice to of had something a bit different, it's not like they put out a new album every other year anymore, at this rate we could all be dead by the time they release another album resembling anything like their 2006/2013 era! Which only lasted 7 years BTW, they have been lizard lounge, elevator music, fake American accent, drum machine, synth loop Arctic Monkeys for longer than they were an actual indie rock band and this will continue for at least another half a decade, so they are lost for me. RIP Arctic Monkeys.

The advantage is that only 1 or 2 of these songs make their live sets (normally).
