I had planned Time Machine 1950s for the end of the year and it needs 10 weeks. It could be split though, I guess.
HF12 is planned for the start of 2024.
As I'm hosting both as well as hosting one now, it would be good for me to have a bit of a break between them.

Happy to shuffle things around. Opens up a slot for a Summer Idol or any other takers.

With us having Instrumental Idol this year (and it being 8 rounds), it's pushed Haven World Cup back from its original slot, so it'll be in the second half of July and all of August, leaving just September free.

I've had to cancel my holiday. Therefore I'll be able to run Haven Factor Express as soon as Haven World Cup ends.
Please post here if you object to this happening from late August onwards.

Sorry you had to cancel your holiday Shireblogger but I'd be happy to start HFE early.

I've had a couple of acts picked out for HFE, so happy to go whenever!

I wrote down my act in notes on my phone so I didn’t forget again and then ending up choosing someone completely different, and then remembering half way through the contest who I originally was going to mentor in the first place.
Anyway, yes please to an early Heffy.

Whilst the thread is active, It feels a good time to propose my 2024 replacement for the Haven Decades Song KO Contest to see if you think it is a good idea or not as it might compliment the (Annual?) Haven Factor game.
Haven's Pick Of The Pops:
You select a UK singles chart from history; and from that chart play (for argument say/TBC/discussed 12 tracks, with a max 2 from #40-21, a minimum 10 from #20-1, but you must finish with that week's #1, and play a minimum 2 others of #5-2).
Like any chart countdown your first selection would be your lowest charting track; and your final track is that week's chart topper.

Moving HFE forward means we have some gaps in the last quarter of 23 other than TM50, if anyone wants to run something as a one off?

I have a very embryonic idea, I'll post about it later this evening if I have time to think things through a bit more. I'd be unlikely to be able to run anything before the final 3rd of September though.

Firstly, I'm proposing whoever picks first, then there will be a minimum (thinking 4 weeks either side, obviously with a certain Bryan Adams; Wet Wet Wet, etc song at #1 that window will be longer) period where no one can pick a week from. Then if they do pick a (minimum) week 5 weeks apart, then whoever's duplicate track selection is highest up in the chart if they both select it among their 12 tracks, gets the track.

Is it an elimination contest or do you continue throughout, and it's an accumulation of scores?

Is it an elimination contest or do you continue throughout, and it's an accumulation of scores? I'm planning a continuous contest, but was thinking of allowing each player to have one joker to double their points in whichever of the 12 round's they choose to play it in.

I know we haven't started planning for next year yet but I just want to put out there that I'm willing to do another edition of Haven World Cup but on the condition it returns to its original June/July slot. I don't really have time to do stuff like this once the football season starts in August.

I love the Haven World Cup format, setting player v player. Panda has come up with a great concept. I had an idea of having a similar competition but like a premier league version. So like the World Cup you pick any song you like (excluding songs used in World Cup's so far), and each player plays every other player once, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 for a defeat. So you know in advance the fixture list but you don't know the song your up against. At the end of the season (say 16 players so 15 matches) there is a champion, and relegation for the bottom player or players. Just an idea, does anyone else think this could work.
