Steel Panther’s “On the Prowl”: An Album So Good, You’ll Want to Wear Spandex and Rock Out Like It’s 1987Quite a few decent albums released yesterday that I am still going through, but this one caught my eye and ear on first listen. Think 80s hair metal, Raunchy Humour (as track titles say), Van Halen and you are in the zone. Defo worth a listen too. The track listing for On The Prowl is: 1) Never Too Late (To Get Some Pu**y Tonight) 2) Friends With Benefits 3) On Your Instagram 4) Put My Money Where Your Mouth Is 5) 1987 6) Teleporter 7) Is My D**k Enough (feat. Dweezil Zappa) 8) Magical Vagina 9) All That And More 10) One Pump Chump 11) Pornstar 12) Ain’t Dead Yet 13) Sleeping On The Rollaway On tour in May: On The Prowl UK 2023 Dates 5/14/23 – Glasgow, UK – O2 Academy 5/15/23 – Newcastle, UK – O2 City Hall 5/17/23 – Manchester, UK – Academy 5/18/23 – Birmingham, UK – O2 Academy 5/20/23 – London, UK – O2 Forum Kentish Town 5/21/23 – Bristol, UK – O2 Academy 5/23/23 – Leeds, UK – O2 Academy 5/25/23 – Belfast, UK – Ulster Hall 5/26/23 – Cork, IE – Cyprus Avenue 5/28/23 – Dublin, IE – Vicar Street

Less raunchy and more just extremely cringe going off the song names and some of the lyrics I've seen A reviewer I usually (but don't always) agree with completely panned this one so I'm actually tempted to listen to see if it's as bad as he says 😅 Best new metal out yesterday for me so far is Insomnium though there's a lot I haven't got to yet.

I tried Insomnium, but couldnt listen t it as not keen on the vocals , which I believe is called Thrash metal? Unsure, but not for me...sorry.

No worries - I think you're in good company; I tend not to share music with growly vocals on Haven unless I think it's got enough cross-genre appeal. I never used to like growled/shrieked vocals either until I started properly getting into metal a couple of years ago and it went from being able to tolerate them to actually enjoying them. I still can't be having with brutal death metal grunting though; they sound like orcs in heat to me Insomnium's music is melodic death metal - not thrash as such, but death metal and its variants all grew out of the thrash scene in the 70s and 80s so you're not far off! Glad you gave it a go even if it's not your cup of tea

Glad I was close with Thrash, but now you have said Death Metal, it rings more of a bell. Thats the auld age in me..lol.
