Obvious and overplayed choice is obvious and overplayed, but still very good.

I can't believe no-one else has mentioned this yet! (Also can't believe I forgot it myself, especially as it came up recently in TheThorne's 80s album ranking...) Absolutely gorgeous collaboration.

Tindersticks, with Carla Torgerson of The Walkabouts, and something almost unbearably melancholic.
And, in the video, the very lovely Ilona from the Rough Trade shop.

Fairytale of New York, if classed as a duet and not a collaboration, is probably the best ever example.
I know him so well (Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson) is another all-time classic.

Can't believe I didn't think of 'Fairytale of New York'.

Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue - Where The Wild Roses Grow isn't bad either

Came in here to check Fairytale Of New York had been mentioned.
I Got You Babe by Sonny & Cher is amazing though, as are Dolly & Kenny on Islands In The Stream.
I discovered Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood’s work together while doing the 70s chart thread a few months ago. Not sure I absolutely love any of it but it’s worth a mention.
