Says it would be the final one, but there's still "Carnival Of Light" in the McCartney vaults. Which I would be more excited to hear.

Not the last Beatles record, I fear, especially if AI is involved. But maybe the last officially signed-off one.
Also... if Harrison didn't agree to work on/release it while he was alive, and it's basically only happening now that he's dead and no longer able to overrule McCartney, it arguably isn't even properly signed-off even now.

George only said no because of the poor quality of the vocal track they were working with. It's not like he was against putting new stuff out at the time because we got two previously unreleased tracks.

Fair enough. That'll teach me to try to read news articles first-thing on waking up.

Each Beatle had a right of veto over what stuff they put out. Yoko has that right from John and Dhani has that right from George. So if it comes out Dhani is happy with it.

John Lennon - Now & Then (1977 Demo, Cleaned up to remove tape hissing sound, buzzing & squeaks)
"Now & Then" is the 4th & final track on the cassette Yoko Ono gave to Paul McCartney at John Lennon's Rock & Roll Hall of fame induction of his demos recorded between 1977-1980 for possible work/overdubs by the remaining Beatles for the Anthology project. As you know "Free As a Bird" & "Real Love" did appear with overdubs for that project. The third "Grow Old Along With Me" had already turned up on the 1984 John Lennon appeared on the posthumous album Milk and Honey, so they decided it was not worthwhile working on it. They did work on "Now and Then" in the 1994 Jeff Lynne produced "Threetles sessions" but decided to abandon it because Lennon's original demo required too much work to bring it up to the standard needed for an official release.
Due to advances in technology in 2005 Paul McCartney took the 1994 "Threetles version" and with help from Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich had a go at polishing it up..
This is rumoured to be it:
But George Harrison's widow Olivia vetoed its alleged release (as George did not think the 1994 version was good enough, so did not want to overrule her husband's wishes) to coincide with the Beatles catalogue being released for the first time via digital download.
However, her son Dhani, is a fan of the song so clearly now has more influence.
Personally, going by the four raw demo's John gave to Yoko to give to Paul, I think it is easily the best "song" of the lot, but was also in the poorest condition to begin with.

I'm not sure, I think genuine fans would love to hear lost tracks (by any artist from the past),I know I would, you don't have to buy them if you don't want, but a poor Beatles song is 10 times better than the tosh we have to listen to today.

"Now And Then" officially premieres tomorrow at 2PM UK time. Radio 2 will be playing it then but I imagine a lot of stations all over the world will be as well.

Lots of people do "mash-ups". So just take a Paul McCartney song, a John Lennon song, a George Harrison song and a Ringo Starr song and make a big mash-up of them and call it The Beatles.
