Emily Eavis has confirmed Glastonbury will be back in 2024, with two female headliners who have already been booked. One of these will obviously be Taylor Swift, who has a handy Glastonbury-sized gap in her Eras Tour schedule between London and Dublin. I assume the other will be Beyonce, although I guess it could be Rihanna, or possibly even Madonna extending the Celebration tour. Please correct this if I'm wrong.
So, who would you choose as the third headliner ?
Three rules:-
1. They can't have headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury before. (I've provided a list in the next post).
2. They have to be available - i.e. they can't be dead, nor can they be a group who has a critical member who is dead (e.g. The Beatles or Nirvana). But you could choose a band who would need to re-form.
3. You have to imagine you are Emily Eavis. So don't pick someone who would invite ridicule, because they're your favourite but simply not big enough to justify being a Glastonbury headliner.

The Wedding Present
(Skinny Lister would fall foul of your 3rd rule, but I think the Wedding Present would be a fine choice)
The Wedding Present have only ever played Glastonbury once, I think 1987, and they weren't headliners.

Not totally convinced the second headliner will be Beyonce. Madonna is definitely plausible. But how about Kate Bush...?
As for the third headliner: If the Smiths reforming is out of the question, and the same applies for Pink Floyd, then I would go for Red Hot Chili Peppers or Green Day.
If we're wanting to get a British act in there, as much as I'm not a fan, possibly the 1975.

Edited the previous post to add Green Day because I remembered I was sat watching the coverage on Saturday and thinking how they would suit being a headliner.

Paolo Nutini was amazing when he headlined Victorious festival last year, so I reckon he would be a good choice.

The 1975 makes a lot of sense (assuming Matty Healy hasn't managed to get himself definitively cancelled between now and then)
Thinking about acts not on that list... Suede?

If Taylor Swift and Beyonce are headlining then it has to be something that appeals to Liberal gender bending hippies like a third female artist then they will plug it as the first all female music festival 🤢
Madonna Lizzo Kylie RuPaul
One of them, why not

With Taylor and Beyoncé (assuming both are correct) they will have to find a rock band IMO for the Pyramid stage otherwise there will be widespread howls of complaint.

Lol Sam Smith, yeah I can see him being the masculine act 🤣 they have had Coldplay 4 times filling the rock band slot
It's more of a culture experience than a music festival these days.

Actually how about Depeche Mode? They're still popular enough to fill that field I think!

Ok more serious answer, they've had a bit of a revival, fit the bill and I cant believe theyve never headlined
Pet Shop Boys?

Well I may be predictable but they could have a new record in 2024
Biffy Clyro
But other contenders I can see My Chemical Romance really hitting the comeback trail in 2024, we just had a taster, let's get a full album.
Also The Strokes will be back in 2024 or even late 2023 with a new album, they have a chance. Other Stage headliners, at least.
As for more heritage acts Depeche Mode is a great shout after their successful year so far.
But c'mon the only true answer is Oasis, you might not be hearing it here first, but I'd give you good odds. Although Reading/Leeds will be 30 years exactly since 'Definitely Maybe'.

Pet Shop Boys are a great shout. Whilst I think Biffy would do a great job, I feel the way Glastonbury has gone with the stature of its headliners recently, I don't think they're big enough to get the nod.

Yeah I think Oasis have a good chance but they've headlined twice so aren't eligible with these rules
But Noel has been saying a lot lately that he is open to a reunion now

Again, great band but I'm not sure there's enough widespread interest beyond their core fanbase these days to warrant them headlining. If the Manics aren't headlining now, I can't see Suede being asked.

A couple more names to throw out there:
Rage Against The Machine
Eminem
