Doctors cancelled after 23 years

BBC drama series Doctors has been cancelled after 23 years due to super inflation of the BBC's drama 
production causing costs to rise significantly.
They had a choice whether to invest in the Birmingham Selly Oak site where the show is made 
or finance new shows in the West Midlands.

I'll be sorry to see it go, i live not far from where it's filmed and i often see a lot of places i know in scenes
over the years.
I know the show has a lot of fans and i'm sure many will be disappointed.

The early episodes are currently being shown on Drama. The show first aired in March 2000 and started filming
in 1999, the old outdoor market was seen in a episode a few weeks ago as well as the Pallasades shopping centre.

For me it had been going downhill for years.

I stopped watching once Christopher Timothy left.

This has all the hallmarks of a meeting where the name came up and someone said: "Wait a minute... We still make that??"

I'm enjoying the early shows on Drama just a shame that some episodes are skipped due to one of
the writer's blocking it i think

Last week of filming this week with Friday being the last day.
Sad for the cast and crew losing their jobs and for the many fans of the show.
They have enough episodes in the can leading up to Christmas.
