Singer-songwriter Raye has received seven Brit Award nominations, a new record for one artist in a single year.
She has overtaken Craig David, Gorillaz and Robbie Williams, who previously held the joint record with six each.
Raye's nominations include one for artist of the year, a category in which six of the 10 nominees are female.
That is in stark contrast to last year, when there was an all-male best artist line-up after the merging of the best British male and female categories.
Following criticism, Brits organisers have expanded the artist of the year category from five to 10 slots this year.
The split is even more pronounced in international artist of the year, where Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo are among eight female nominees in the 10-strong category.

What I'd vote for...
Album of the Year (both average) Blur - The Ballad of Darren Young Fathers - Heavy Heavy
Artist of the Year None
Group Of The Year Chase & Status Jungle
Song of the Year (Only one I know) Raye featuring 070 Shake - Escapism
International artist of the Year (At a push) Kylie Minogue
International group of the Year Boygenius Paramore
International song of the Year Noah Kahan - Stick Season Olivia Rodrigo - Vampire
Best new artist None
Rising Star The Last Dinner Party
Best alternative / rock None Yussef Dayes (who?)
Best dance None
Best hip-hop / rap / grime act Little Simz

I see why I gave up watching the Brits several years ago, as it bears no resemblance to anything I listen to.

Jazz drummer. He’s really good but, although I’m glad to see him being recognised by the BRIT awards committee, he shouldn’t have been nominated in the alternative/rock category.

Quite. Alt/rock is entirely my bag but I wouldn’t listen to anything lately from the nominees

Kylie Minogue is set to receive a Brits global icon award at this year's ceremony.
Taking place on 2 March, Kylie will be recognised for her five decade-spanning career.
Kylie has also been confirmed to perform on the night.
Speaking about the announcement, Kylie said: "I am beyond thrilled to be honoured with the global icon award and to be joining a roll call of such incredible artists.
"The UK has always been a home from home so the Brits have a very special place in my heart. I have some amazing memories from the awards over the years and I can't wait to be back on the Brits stage."
The Brits icon award is the highest accolade given by the award organisers and is "reserved for truly exceptional artists".

Resurgent drum and bass duo Chase & Status have been named winners of the Brit Award for producer of the year.
The band, who are celebrating their 21st anniversary, will also perform with best dance act nominee Becky Hill at the Brits ceremony on Saturday.
Formed by producers Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status), they have worked with everyone from Rihanna to Snoop Dogg and Craig David.
Last year, they scored two massive hit singles with Disconnect and Baddadan.
The latter, a crushingly immense dance banger, is currently enjoying its 29th consecutive week on the charts after peaking at number five in October.
Disconnect, a collaboration with Hill, has amassed 48 million streams in the UK alone.

What constitutes a “new artist”? Raye has been having charting singles for at least 6/7 years!

What constitutes a “new artist”? Raye has been having charting singles for at least 6/7 years! Think it is very open to interpretation but I think it goes by when your debut album is released. They really wanted to make an example out of her last night but they didn’t have to give her everything.

What a pile of cack! I'm glad I dont watch these things. Is she a Brits darling by any chance? She wins best newcomer and best artist, just have her in one category not both! Are these voted on, or decided by a "panel"

I mean...that's just racist, isn't it? 95% of the country completely ignored. Nothing from Wales, nothing from Northern Ireland. Nothing from Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, East Anglia, Northumbria. Best hip-hop category 100% London.
So it can't be a "Brit" award. Just rename them Cockney Awards and the rest of the country could safely ignore this biased self-congratulatory incestuous circle-jerk.
