Shame. I often have Kerrang on in the background when I'm in the living room doing something else

Kerrang is the only one I will occasionally record after MTVRocks got the boot some years ago

This is very sad news but not too surprising. I only really watch pop videos if I'm staying up a bit late during the weekends/when I'm on holiday, and there is nothing else I want to watch.

I thought 4music was binned off when E4-extra replaced it on Freeview.
Even when 4music was on Freeview, it was basically just showing E4 programmes in the evenings instead of music vids.
Sad to see the other music channels go but not unexpected.

Kerrang is in the only one I ever watch now but why would you watch a poor SD quality video channel when you have YouTube.

same, not watched any for years, they've become a bit defunct, none play new music and if you want to listen to old music you already know just go on YouTube

Haven't watched any of those for years either. I may put on That's TV it the background when they are showing music videos on Freeview and I occasionally watch something on MTV Germany, but that's about it as far as watching random pop videos goes.

The Box is the only one I think I ever watched, and that was 20 odd years ago - I had no idea it was still around. I probably spent too much time trying to get them to play B*Witched "C'est La Vie" than is probably healthy.

People used to pay for a premium rate phone call to request a music video which may or may not get played in the next half hour. We all must have been crazy before they invented youtube.

Weirder still is that it seemed people were phoning up to request songs that were being played several times an hour anyway.
In hindsight, I'm going to assume it was, in some part, record label manipulation to ensure certain artists/videos got exposure when they'd probably never be played on non-request channels like MTV.
